You do know she started out modeling and designing clothes and she only sang to make ends to meet until she met her band who were looking for a singer after their original singer quit. Sade by her own admission wasn't looking to be a music star. She only sang when she had no modeling jobs lined up.

...having the backup singer follow her around on stage, interacting like that etc is amazingly brilliant....she is awesome. That singer, a great friend of hers, sang at her wedding. If you haven't heard Sade talk about her band, her career, etc, she is so humble, down home country girl...and she is 'fine'

I was not a Sade fan back in the 80s. I thought her music was to mellow for my own taste (I was a teen back then). I recently rediscovered one of her albums, Stronger Than Pride, and was blown away. That music aged really well. Sade’s voice is soothing and sultry. I am in love!
