Agreed. In his explanation, he said he Bernie was a G.O.A.T. however. That's not a however that makes sense. D.L. always roasting the crown. That's not exceptional to me at all. Then to compare to compare bodies or work, relative to the era, Bernie was killing it. He was already in Hollywood before Kings of Comedy.

The first time I watched The Kings of Comedy. I cried, I peed, and I got light headed from laughing at Bernie Mac's set. He was by far the funniest of the Kings. He also had the funniest show out of all them. RIP Mac

Darren sounds salty. The fact that Bernie never had an hour special and is considered a King of Comedy is a testament to how good he really was. He did Def Comedy Jam, was a touring stand up. He went on to Hollywood( House Party 3, Players Club) and also had a late night show on HBO (Midnight With Mac) and this was all before Kings of Comedy. So he was battle tested already. Darren trying to make it sound like Bernie was green because he didn't do an hour special. Stop it.

Bernie was the funniest. He was just the last one to go mainstream and family orientated. That is the only reason he wasn't bigger. Steve did Apolo and The Steve Harvey show and Cedric was on the show too. So that made them household names. The DL got his own show. And if I'm not mistaken the biggest reason they never went back on tour was Steve didn't want to lose his shine to Bernie.

Amy Schumer got multiple one hour specials and has done movie, so I personally don't see how a comedian NEEDS a one hour special to be goated. He's done stand-up for a long time and is known for his funny characters in movies, outstanding stand-up, and he's had multiple shows. Shoot, The Bernie Mac Show literally says every episode, "based on the comedy/stand-up of Bernie Mac". If anything, to get THAT far without a one-hour special is a testament to how amazing he is. Bernie Mac had a comedy show on HBO called Midnight Mac. At the time, you were picked to do specials. You didn't just go out and shoot your own. He was hilarious but he was also an older guy and Hollywood skews young. Ironically, he was in process of creating one when he died.
