Not necessarily. Swami Prabhupada asked folks to buy his books, does that make him a scam? Money is not always a scam. What is a scam is what is attached to the money. For example, if someone says "Pay me $1000 and I will give you secrets nobody else has" - even though all the spiritual secrets are in our scriptures, which can be found for free - than its a scam.

He says that if God comes, he will not worry about God cos he doesn't care about God. Yet, he cant even stop himself from growing old or passing stool. In the Vedic literatures, God, known by the the principle names Krishna, is described as an ever fresh 16 year old youth with a infinitely beautiful body that is full of knowledge, full of bliss and eternal. God is not an old man. He claims to have mastered Yoga, yet He rejects the very same Yogic text like the Bhagavad Gita aa it is. He denies Lord Krishna, yet, he takes portions of Krishna's words in the Bhagavad Gita as if its own philosophy. A true Guru is described with great detail in the Vedas. One symptom of a real Guru is that he must be free from any material desire, including fame, following, prestige and enjoying material sense gratification. He is full of humility, and comes in the line of disciplic succession (an unbroken chain of genuine gurus) from God Himself. @@Bobby-fj8mk Ok, but he should not be called a guru and allow himself to be called a guru. The word guru and it's definition comes from the Vedas. Just like he cannot call himself the the president of the USA. That would be absurd. Calling him a guru is misleading and misinformation. One has to have the proper qualifications of guru to be accepted as such and those qualifications are fully outlined in the Vedic literatures, which are the source or origin of the word guru. That is my point. And in terms of not following anyone else's rules, that's not entirely true, as he still has to follow the rules of the state or country he visits. He still needs a passport and visa and he is subject to universal laws including birth, old age, disease and death.

Sadhguru teaches a path to greater wisdom and awareness. He has a clear and enlightened mind. I don't follow him directly other than watch his videos. I have followed many of the current great teachers and past ones as well. I have studied Buddhism, Tao, and Hindu in-depth for many years. I have studied and practiced holistic and Asian health practices for over 40 years. I know a fake when I see one, and Sadhguru is no fake. He has a true and deep connection to the highest levels of consciousness. That is what a guru should have. You can have nice things as long as you are not attached to them. When you are not attached they come to you naturally. 😊👍❤

It took you 14 years? I think you have a chakra block. I had been to his Tennessee ashrama once, and he took one look at me and realised that I have unlimited energy which needed to be channeled. He taught me the shunya kriya on day one. Now because of my mastery of the shunya kriya I can travel the world, just travel through space and time. For example I went to Lithuania next week and will come back last year. Scambhoooooooooo.

That's common knowledge for anyone who do meditation using breath meditation...that is not Sathguru meditation method, in Budhha's meditation methods, breath meditation is used and Buddha lived 2600 years ago. This sadguru guy is an absolute con man, reason how I know is that he tried talking about Buddha and his teaching, he knew nothing, and he was just conning people lieing to them knowing very well the Indians do not know anything about Buddha Dharma... I am not an Indian, I studdy Buddha's teaching and I can say that I can teach anyone about Buddha Dharma and also I have practised Buddha's meditation method called Satipattana, when Sadguru was talking about Buddha and his stories, i knew this guy was conning people.

They call these paths a "practice" because that is exactly what you have to do to advance - practice! I started to learn Eastern energy practices about 40 years ago when I studied Tai Chi and Chinese Medicine. Back then I was only a beginner but I had some amazing experiences which showed me this stuff is real. I was lucky to have found some great masters who were the real deal. Since then I've also been lucky to learn from many of the contemporary teachers and masters who are alive today. So I feel I have very good judgement as to when someone is full of BS. My feeling after watching many Sadhguru videos is he is the real deal. He is a true mystic and knows what he is talking about. Maybe when it comes to Buddhism he is not a real expert and should leave the details up to someone who really knows. I went to lectures on Buddhism by a true scholar and I didn't find anything Sadhguru said to be way off the mark. But I think he spoke in more broad terms and didn't go into details on the Suttas, that's OK with me. I also studied Hindu for several years and Sadhguru seems to know those beliefs pretty well. Even though as he has said he is a mystic and has not really read all the Vedas and other spiritual scriptures of the Hindu tradition either. And again that is OK with me. If you become enlightened there is no need for all that other knowledge. Knowledge is just empty words in your head unless you take action on it and truly realize it from experience. That is the quintessential point of his teachings. I think he's great and other people who don't like him are making up excuses and cherry picking reasons to not like him. And I've studied with many other great teachers so I have good experience to compare him and even judge him by. People complain about him have a nice motorcycle. He rode one for years when he was younger. Then he was a successful business man for many years before becoming Sadhguru. He was not poor. Why not have a nice motorcycle. It shows he is smart. He rode 8,000 miles across the US to visit Native American Spiritual sites. That is an amazing feat. I would love to see anyone who complains about him do this. They would not make it 1,000 miles, maybe not 100 miles. It was feat of great endurance and I totally respect and admire him for his ability and his motivation for doing it. He was definitely not in it for some kind of glory because he never got any. The most he got was a really sore butt. But of course he visited some celebrities too because celebs are smart and they also understand spiritual practices and want to achieve better goals in their personal practice. So of course they want to connect with him and learn from him. Honestly people find the most foolish things to complain about.

Depends what's your definition of wisdom and what is your goal of life. A real guru to me is one who can liberate his followers from the cycle of birth, old age, disease and death and bring them to the stage of live of Godhead.

@@sudamadas344our OWN divine Intelligence / higher self should be our PRIMARY guide NOT the transitory spiritual teacher. The spiritual teacher plays a TEMPORAL role in our lives and must navigate their own karma and life challenges. No person outside of us can liberate us. Life is an inside job.
