I had the honor of meeting Sadie and did her workshop when she was in Houston TX. She is absolutely amazing. Sadie is definitely the most brilliant and talented bellydancer in the world. To be in tune with every movement of your body and to dance so elegantly is something that is hard to master, she has indeed mastered it all. Sadie i have followed you for 12years and still when i see you I am completely at a loss for words...just amazing!
I don't know if you guys know how impressive this is. not only is she pregnant which makes things a little harder but the ammount of control, clarity and prosision she has is amazing! I'm very impressed. I did belly dance at school for about 2 years, can't remember what type now ( was about 8 years ago) eygyption kinda rings a bell. .. but in any case she has blown me away! Bravo lady Bravo!
No doubt its harder when pregnant, but there's nothing more womanly than this.....carrying a baby while flaunting her lady assets in a graceful & artistic sexy way!
I was a full time (5-6nights week, three 45 minute solo shows a nite) professional bellydancer "Fairuz" in the Chicago Greek and Arabic clubs through the early 1970s til 1989. A friend and fellow dancer Amara worked in the Arabic clubs until she was 6 months pregnant. They loved her for that! She was treated like a Queen. Those were wonderful days to be a belly dancer...always live music with great musicians, plenty of clubs to work, crowded venues full of energy.
This is real belly dance. I was trying to find a good example for my children, but most of what's on RU-vid is fusion and pop retooling of belly dance. This! This is what I was trying to describe to my kids. I am so glad this is out there where they can see such a beautiful dance.

Это точно!!! Именно так и должен выглядеть танец живота. Для начала этот животик должен быть, что бы было чему танцевать. А то последнее время часто встречаю не танец живота, а танец супового набора.

I give props to my girl for continuing to dance/perform while pregnant.. not only does it show her confidence, is it good for her health and her baby will have rhythm and be familiar with arabic songs. Her costume is so gorgeous here too! Beautiful all around! ~Andreana (Pava Productions)
Ahh, I love how well-informed this comments section is on the purpose and origin of belly dance. Another fun fact I don't think I've seen mentioned: belly dancing was never intended for male gratification; in fact, in some of the more rural areas of Egypt, women to this day never dance for anyone except close female friends and family members. Men are not permitted to watch. "Belly dance," as we call it (though they don't), really is an art form for women, by women.

Estuve en el FAIRUZ, en El Cairo, en febrero, antes de la globalidad de la pandemia, excelente comida y a las 23 hs. una bailarina egipcia hacía un extraordinario show de belli dance, la música, hermosa. Luego, también hay un restorán que es como cuevas, muy especial y allí también hay show de belli dance . Por otra parte, antes de hablar de costumbres, busca en youtube y verás la gran cantidad de belli dancers originales que hay. Además no puedes ser tan fanática como para afirmar que una esposa no baila para su esposo. Es irreal
@@rmh6119 de acuerdo. Es la celebración de la femineidad pero sí se baila en restaurantes. No veo que sea para hombres, para nada, soy mujer y me encanta. Aquí hay muchas academias. Es más, en Colombia, Shakira tiene una academia de belli dance
I find it hilarious as a historian that you can't even do a basic Google search, it MIGHT be made for women but it was practiced widely for sexual gratification for Pharoah's and even many years after egypt was over thrown after Cleopatra's death it was practiced around the world for sexual appeal. Even today it's played because of the sexual appeal, come on guys try and learn something.

It’s insane how energetic and in control she is throughout the entire performance. At 2:26 especially, you can see all the little controlled muscle movements going on with her belly, while she’s clearly very pregnant. What a privilege to see. She is absolutely stunning.
i dont understand the fuss with the whole belly dancing whilst pregnant. I actually think its extraordinary to be belly dancing at such perfection whilst pregnant. Go Sadie!
She is very talented! I don't think I could ever belly-dance, especially while pregnant no less! Hehehe, I can imagine the baby inside is like "MOMMM I'm trying to nap. Stop shaking."
Actually bellydancing is good for keeping the muscles used in childbirth strong and can help with the back strain that tends to happen during pregnancy. The bellydancers I know who are mothers danced until just before the baby was born. A bonus is that the babies in question were used to hearing drums in utero and would fall asleep when the same music was played after they were born.
+gullinvarg I agree. I take bellydancing and one of my classmates did it while pregnant. she really credits it with a smooth delivery and pregnancy. I've just heard that hip shimmies aren't advised, only do the straight legged/Egyptian.
I belly danced through out my pregnancy and guess what? It took me 12 min to bring my first new born into this world. The doctor said it was very rare usually it takes from 30 min to an hour. I knew it was because I practiced dancing a lot.

*zaghareets* Gorgeous lady and incredible dance!! Her baby is just fine, people. This is no different than continuing an active exercise program or doing a physically demanding job during pregnancy. Our bodies were made for this and we've been doing it successfully for thousands of years.
Venus Smiled true my mother played basketball while she was pregnant with me and I turned out just fine. Not heavily pregnant mind you but she was around the same size as Sadie was in this dance. In fact I’ve inherited her passion for sports too.

She surely looks pregnant and I don't think her dancing posed any risk whatever to her or the baby. My wife played tennis the day before our son was born...no harm to either one. She (my wife) is an Egyptian Catholic.. a real middle eastern lady. Sadie is absolutely the best belly dancer I have ever seen and that includes tours in Turkey, Egypt, Iran, Lebanon, and Algeria. She is the most artistic and beautiful of them all.
I am egyptian descent and Sadie makes me proud to be who I am. I am learning belly dance during my pregnancy for the first time in my family line. She is my role model. Love you Sadie 😚😚
She looks beautiful and I bet the little one in her belly enjoyed it too :) Belly Dance and Yoga are the best things for you, especially when you become pregnant as both strengthen your abdomen which reduces the pain of labor and make pushing easier.
Her son is now almost ten. Although I haven't attended an event that included Sadie performing in a few years I cannot recall any of her performances that were less than awesome! She is a very kind, gracious and endearing lady - in addition to a fabulous performer and entertainer.
