Masterpiece! One of the best lyricists today, not only just in hip-hop but all of music. The complexity and nuances of emotion this guy is able to capture with his poetry and production is on another level... I haven't heard anything like it really. And he seems to just keep getting better as his career progresses, it's pretty unbelievable and I'm grateful to witness it.
I study English Literature at MA level, I write poems myself and have studied a lot of "classical" literature. I genunily believe that Sadistik and a few others (Aesop rock, Ed Scissor, Lupe Fiasco etc) are on the level of most if not all poets. Sure they are writing in a different medium and genre but that doesn't excuse the sheer quality of the writing. I wish to become a lecturer of English Lit and I certainly want to include Sadistik and the others I mentioned on a module I design.
@@Aphorim I'd say Lupe is up there, maybe not earlier stuff, but the album "Drogas Wave" has many amazing tracks and is extremely well written. Also I can't not mention Mural which is a masterpeice. He isn't maybe consistantly on the level of the others but the albums "Tetsuo and Youth" and "Drogas Wave" deserve to be at the highest level of lyricism.
@@stevesmith5883 I disagree, honestly I don't hear any lyricism, especially in Tetsuo and Youth. At that point, you could say Benefit is a lyricist. The difference is for Aesop rock and Sadistik especially, it reads poetic, it has more than the traditional rap atheistic, it's almost literary. You read it, and it still sounds magnificent. For example, the interlude of Delirium (Life is Just) reads like revelations. The hook induces something primal when he raps, "I am a beast so why can't we be free?" or as he proclaims "Lycanthropy, I cannot breathe". Sadistik doesn't typical walk people down his lyrics, he lets them explore them.
@@Aphorim I disagree in the sense I certainly do see lyricism in that album. However you are right in saying that Aesop and Sadistik do have that poetic quality which goes beyond rap, which Lupe does not have as much, instead being a very good writer within rap. I would suggest checking out Ed Scissor then, who I mentioned in my original comment, especially the album "Tell Them It's Winter" He's a UK artist that creates insane images with his writing to certainly poetic level, even when read.
I almost cried when I first listened to this song, then it ended and I started laughing like a wierdo at how talented Sadistik is, truly a lyricist. Not only are the words so powerful, I feel like if you didn't speak English just the sounds of the words, how they all connect and flow, would be pleasing to the ears. Thats how you know Sadistik has truly mastered his art.
I remember seeing you comment on new sadistik songs for years now. It makes me giggle and smile on the inside. Hope you're doing well. Btw random thought: if eyedea ever taught me anything, it's that human connection is the only thing worth anything. That's what he gave me, connection. Sadistik gives it too. But i always wondered why eyedea had such an impact on me. I think i figured it out.
Best lyricist. True Artist. Thank you Sadistik, been listening to your music from 'the balancing act' 2008. You helped me to go through depression. Now i am alive.
Yeah I found Sadistik just after "Ultraviolet" through a comment on an Eyedea video, Listened to that album and all past releases and bought every release since! As an English literature MA student who writes poetey myself. Sadistik is one of the best, along with Aesop Rock, Lupe Fiasco and Ed Scissor (Lesser known UK artist but in the 1% of writers). I've always been in awe of Cody's writing and it remains consistant if not better!
"Look at my scalp to see sixes aligned, these Judas's smile while they're gripping a knife, I know I'm a star so I'll give em my light.." those few bars are like fucking therapy to me thanks Cody
I just cannot believe you're still not popular. Your talent is so magnificent and inspirational, at least for me. I am writing, or trying to write, a novel; and I always listen to your music when I seek inspiration.
Man every time you release a track it’s 🔥🔥🔥thanks for your awesome music after all these years you still one of the best out there respect from the Netherlands brother and keep that good music coming ✌🏻😈
[Verse 2] Fold my limbs up like origami It makes it easy to store the body Humor me & my morbid hobbies They're made of carbons of course they copy So they're zombies flow to heartbeats Prose McCarthy, Murakami Atheist spits with form that’s godly That ain’t for me G that’s for my Rottie Be careful my crosshairs might come for your head From here you look like a fly stuck in a web I am so fabulous God in the flesh I am so Lazarus summon the dead I'm not one to play I, want the smoke and the hate And I hope that you pray Because I know that you won't get to wake And you won't be so woke at your wake I’m in my bag like Asami victims Don’t say shit, who saw me vic em? Tear through flesh like a Pardee picture You’re scared I’m read like McCarthyism Look at my scalp to see sixes aligned These Judas’ smile while they’re gripping a knife I’m know I’m a star so I give em my light We’re passing each other like ships in the night
[Verse 1] Either turn a blind eye, or learn to climb high Heights are bird’s-eye, pining birds cry From pines opining the words I per-scribe Combine the sight-seeing perched on birch I Got burned on pyres heard the word to wise Search the surface sure fits are first to die All my personal ties-dyed by turpentine Time to turn the tides, tidals turned to fires If I don’t earn my stripes I go serpentine This is versifier versus verse for hire I surf the current search where urchins hide Describe the words so verdant averse to liars In the lair layers-peeling earths design Later pills appeal built purple skies Way uphill & still felt immersified Murdered like rehearsal it hurts to find While we live in the gutter they mimic each other I’m gutted like fishes while fishing for love And I give em the mud from my limbs like a drug They’re so limited, lemon on tongue Heavy lead from my lungs I’m a leper these leopards left steps on my stomach It’s never enough, I’m the Shepard you summoned The sum of the efforts, still some are for never Let everything flush because nothings forever You ever just tasted your blood? Maybe it’s rust I’m erasing the touches you left on my skeleton breaking the trust Still defacing my days, while I’m facing the flood I’m a raisin in suns, raising razors to cut Cut aways to the rays in the summer Arrays of the thunder I’d make just to savor the suffering Chasing what was, we’re all made just to fade into dust
I got told the sample was by a korean (i think) rapper called yankoh in his song B L A N K. Came out in 2019 so I have no idea. If it was, I have no idea how Sadistik found it. I have a feeling none are the actual original so no idea where it was sampled from still.
"Let everything flush because nothing's forever, you ever just tasted your blood??" Chills, Sadistik reminds me a lot of Vampire Village, less popular tho but just as good
This album released on my birthday. It's a tumultuous birthday. Brought into this world and lost so much on this day. Thank you for your music as always. But this album truly is a masterpiece
i remember that sample... ... yo man.. if your down id like to collab.. i found you off a whim... the depth of your lyricism is the needle let me know..
