Anwar averaged 45 as opener, and 40+ in ODI, at a time when 35+ average was considered great in ODI's and not many had 45+ in tests..Anwar is truly one of the greatest batsman and opener. Pity his career cut short due to tragic event in his life

My father was a big fan of saeed anwar class batting. He would play classy unpredictable & attacking shots allround the ground. He was so calm & composed. Pak can never get another player of saeed anwar caliber again. Love from india.

MUST READ: Saeed Anwar was a elegant and classy batsmen. For such a small and slender frame he was strong and his timing was impeccable. His timing was such that sometimes he would defend the ball and it would go for a boundary. A simple flick of his legs would go for a six. It was a work of art. He was also very consistant in making 50's and 100's. He made so many runs in a 12 year career. After the death of his daughter and falling ill himself he slowly withered away around the age of 30. Saeed Anwar at his peak was the greatest batsmen I have ever seen. He faced legendary bowlers like Mcgrath, Warne, Ambrose, Gough, Murli, Donald, Pollock, Srinath, Kumble to name a few. His fantastic 194 against India in India infront of a hostile crowd was one of the greatest knocks witnessed by many in a ODI match. The 194 stayed a record score for 13 years until it was broken. Saeed Anwar scored a total of 20 ODI hundreds in 12 years. If he had a 24 year career like the legend Sachin Tendulkar, who knows... Saeed Anwar would have also had around 50 or more ODI hundreds! Since his retirement Pakistan have yet to produce another opening batsmen like him. Peace my people!!

Saeed Anwar aur Inzamam dono Pakistani legend hain. I was too young to watch Saeed, but I had the fortune of watching Inzi bat, and Indian bowlers just totally failing to get his wicket. Ek baar tik gye toh out hi na hona. Same with Mohd. Yousuf. Yaar seriously missing Indian team touring Pakistan and vice versa. My father first introduced me to cricket way back in '02, but I only properly started from '04. Sadly, my father is no more, but I have those sweet memories of watching cricket with him all those years. He was always full of praise of Inzi. - from Delhi.

Hanif Mohammad is a legend ... Just like what Bradman is for Australia, Wally Hammond is for England, Vijay Hazare is for India, Hanif Mohammad is for Pakistan. They will all be legends who gave new to the game when cricket was growing in their respective countries. They will never be comparable to any greats like Brian Lara, Sachin Tendulkar, Javed Miadad, Sunil Gavaskar etc. They were inspirations for all these greats that's why they are and will always be legends.

Current younger generation in Pakistan is not getting opportunity to see quality international cricket and not getting inspiration.. it is a lose for world cricket and spectators.. when India meets Pakistan, we want to see matches like 2003 world cup where each team fight neck on neck and no one should be able to predict in advance that who is going to win till the last ball is bowled..
Grew up watching the great S. Anwar...even though I was a right handed batsman I copied every shots he had ever played....specially his signature flick and square drive. Aapke team mai 2 hi fast bowlers hai.. aur baki 30 overs kaun dalega chalo Aapke Hisab se bhajji ka 10 overs aur afridi Ka bhi 10 overs aur yuvraj se bhi 10 overs dalwawoge kya Bhai..aap dekhke batana Bhai.. no doubt in batting yuvraj is huge but to consider in this team where already 7- batsmen are there (n we can still count on wasim Akram for batting too), we need someone who can bowl 10 full overs which afridi can..
