There is no religion, no cast, no community and no colour of music. It runs in all human beings and unite the people. Music is no slave of anyone rich or poor. Need to practice, sacrifice and dedication. I salute the great Bismillah Khan.
I WAS FURTUNATE TO ATTEND HIS CONCERT IN BERKELEY, CALIFORNIA IN 1980 OR 1981. I WILL ALWAYS CHERISH THE MEMORY OF THAT UNFORGETTABLE EVENING. REST IN ETERNAL PEACE, USTAD. Also, attended Muhammad Rafi’s concert at the Zellerbach’s Auditorium on the UC Berkeley Campus in 1979 or 1980. The ticket was 15 dollars. A few of the Punjabi students climbed on the stage and demanded that Rafi Sahib sing a Punjabi song. It was a bit spectacle but looking back, it was Berkeley in the 1970’s.
Unfortunately did not see Bismillah and don't know if he came to Montreal, but saw Mohammed Rafi on the same tour that you saw him. He came to Montreal and performed at a University, either McGill or University of Montreal. They are all amazing. Unforgettable.
In 70s I had an opportunity to meet Ustad Amir Khan Sahib with my GURUJi Pandit Kanai Dutta and later on with my Ustadji Keramat Khan Sahib. There I listened a very nice and intuitive "Sairee" from Ustad Amir Khan Sahib. He said "Guni janay guno ko beguna Kaya janay Ashik janay Ashik ko to Bayashik Kaya janay". In Bengali it is said : "Dog cannot digest ghee". Less like for such Monumental work, which is beyond any price, beckons the above clipps. I am not afraid of this. It is natural. We Indians forget our legacy of our motherland but don't forget to have foreign pets. "Dear Brutas, fault is ours but not in our Stars" !
Murali Manmohan ji, namashkar. What a devine job you have done in bringing up another divine life of a legendary Indian musician, Ustad Bismillakhan. The nation honoured him with Bharat Ratna, but see the poorest life conditions he was living in, I feel pained and ashamed.

Kya rooh thi Bismillah saahb. Waakyee sangeet dilo ko jod deta hai.Bhagwan k bohat nazdeek rahte hai aise log.
