This 10-minute video is part of the Safe to Sleep campaign (formerly the Back to Sleep campaign), an effort to educate parents and caregivers about ways to reduce the risk of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) and other sleep-related causes of infant death. The video portrays what a safe sleep environment looks like and describes other ways to reduce the risk of SIDS and other sleep-related causes of infant death. This item is available as a DVD only.

I have a couple of questions... I am hoping to become a grandmother and I see they sell swaddle blankets,, is it safe to wrap baby in one of those at bed time? and my other question is how old do they have to stay on there back? because we all know they do start turning on there own.. Thank you for these video's I want to learn updates before a new grand-baby..

The hospital swaddled my baby at the hospital to sleep. So I hope it is okay! I was told when they start moving you don't want to do it anymore.

If the baby rolls over, leave the child that way, just always lay the baby down to sleep on his or her back when putting them to bed.

Babies can sleep in your bed if you follow the safe sleep 7s on bed sharing. It’s actually as safe as safe cot sleeping. Japan has the lowest SIDS rates in the world and they all bed share with their babies. You just have to do it safely and follow the guidelines. It’s not for every family especially if they can’t adhere to the guidelines.

I hate this misinformation on bed sharing. There are safe ways to bed share and they need to include that. Without bed sharing, some parents can get sleep deprived which is even more unsafe. They need to teach parents the safe sleep 7 of bed sharing so if they need to do it, they can do it safely.

No its not My son was on his back and grandbaby was on her belly . and it can run in the family so this is all wrong. Make your DR give them a sleep study before coming home and if it come back with some thing wrong make them send your baby home on a heart monitor just to be safe.

the issue with that theory is that SIDs can go undetected, its thought now to be a neurological issue, not genetic but lessening the risk with these steps are still very important

This is the worst video I have ever seen. The hospital asked us to watch this video before we discharged NICU, I believe all you needed to do was tell people not to put children on their stomachs and leave out any thing from the crib whatsoever. Delete all the nonsense commentary and ridiculous intersectional accents that they had to add because of the new woke agenda.
