Really thorough briefing. Do you have an epirb? Funny thing. I’ve been on my friends sailing boat out on Lake Erie about a dozen times and he’s never gone over any safety protocols. 🤔
Hi Ian we do have an epirb but we only really put it onboard when we are crossing large bodies of water like the Gulf of Cadiz on our way to the Med. When you are coastal the emergency services have more chance of finding you from your cell signal.
@@lusoyachting36 I am so sorry you think that way about you epirb , you should have it on the yacht at all times. It doesn’t take up any room. You say you can use your cell signal on your phone, but your phone is not waterproof and it that’s not float. And anyone can use a epirb after you show then who to use it and it will last around 48 hrs or more.
Ok this vid is kewl and so needed. It is one of the few I have found so far. Thank you. Question 1. What is the procedure if there is a medical emergency?? Do you radio the coast guard? Question 2. What is to be done if someone onboard is misbehaving or has become violent or has committed a serious crime whils onboard? Thank you in advance.
Thank you. Firstly if there is a medical emergency both I and my first mate are trained first aiders. If it was a serious medical condition such as heart attack or similar we would make for the closest marina/port and radio ahead for an ambulance to be waiting for us. Question. 2. I have never experienced this as Andreza is not a charter boat, but I would head for the first port and demand the offender leave the boat. I know a captain of a local charter yacht who threw an entire party off his yacht because some guests were taking drugs onboard.
Very interesting video great to know you are so well equipped and prepared. Well done on the radio microphone very clear sound, please keep wearing it. Any chance of a film looking round the "end of the world"? Thank you.
