Thank you for your explanation as to the difference of the x and y safety caps. I did not know the x cap was designed to short. Makes a difference.

I usually convert my older radios to a polar ICE C8 plug and cord. these power sockets can almost be an exact fit where they used the obsolete cheater cord. It's polarized and works great. Them you can use the fuse OR a surge cap in the circuit.
