This anime is unfortunately underrated 😔

This show feels 10x more hardcore than some war shows and movies I've watched. And its all because of some ruthless child who happens to have a cutthroat business personality.

0:33 In that shot, seeing how she elevates herself, from a malnourished orphan to a cold-blooded officer, makes me shiver. Tanya isn't a cruel person, but she is a true embodiment of martial evil.

Honestly, I took to loving this anime so much that I completely forgot it was another “isekai” story. I am someone who is fascinated with the horrors of the 20th Century, and particularly with WWI. This anime is a perfect encapsulation of everything I found fascinating about both those subjects. I cannot recommend this anime more highly.

why have i never heard this until now... this is such an underrated opening

I just got reminded I actually did my english final paper last year on the second light novel of this series, basically we had read lord of the flies and we chose some themes from that book, then wrote about another book with similar themes. I got all points cause the book of Youjo Senki did fulfill the themes I picked ( 2 examples of dehumanizing relationships, 1 of loss of innocence and 1 of consequences of war)
