@@josealdana7119 no. Nothing like it. But the Sagat’s kicks, blocks and punches actually demonstrate real Mauy Thai impressively well. Especially for a video game that was developed on 1991.
I guess you could say this music was part of a young man’s daydream that later become reality. Also need to give a huge shout out to Yoko Shimomura. She was the composer for all the Street Fighter 2 music. She was WAY ahead of her time. Absolute genius artist considering what she accomplished especially with then limited technology. What people don't realize is that theme music can make or break a movie, video game, etc. A video game with excellent graphics, controls, plot, etc. will be remembered as mediocre if the music is mediocre. I didn't realize until now how good this theme is because I was spending too much time pissed off and hating him after hearing "Tiger!" over 1000 times and losing to enjoy the music.
Especially when you're in the Thailand stage, with the landscape and the giant statue in the back. I would always be transported to another place in that stage.

This and Sagat's ending theme are imprinted in my bone marrow. Which, since I'm a kick-boxing/Muay Thai practitioner, is quite appropriate. My elbows and shins are fortified with the Tiger's Spirit! 🐯🔥
Sagat in level 8 is a true nightmare. He control distance with mid and long range attacks and has high priority moves. The Tiger Uppercut is almost unbeatable. Hardest in the game in my opinion.

this song being the only one in the soundtrack (i think) to have a weird time signature makes me really want Sagat to canonically be a music nerd to an absurd degree

You can keep your Guile's theme going with everything and Ken's Mighty Wings. Sagat's theme is the chillest on the entire soundtrack, maybe even the entire series.
@@pokeaust7800 I looked up this video just to find this comment. Thanks! I can count it and the line clearly repeats after 11/8. But I must say 11/8 feels weird for the bass line, though I don't think splitting it up to something like 7/16 9/16 3/8 makes it easier to hear. For the melody of the trumpet synthesizer (or whatever it is) it's easy to hear the 11/8 though.
Played SF 2 a few days ago just because of this theme, that popped up in my recomended. Got my ass beaten multiple times, but i got what i wanted... an unique game.

the tempo change in this theme is right about where you HAVE the first round, or your swiped the reset switch.... man I can still remember being 4 years old PAWING for the controller watching my older brother beat this game over and over again. I'm 29 now but the feeling this track gives me hasn't tarnished in any way. I hate being older and forgetting where I started playing games. So many choices today, platforms and controllers. This was all I knew when I was growing up... Alpha series is remarkable, I really enjoyed EX too. But Super Streetfighter II is still, BY FAR, the king when it comes to SF titles.

Many battles with this guy. He demanded that you will not see M.Bison until you enjoy his music and get good! Almost felt like you we’re fighting Xerxes, his reach was ridiculous and defensively unfair. He was way more difficult than M.Bison. #goodtimes
