As a brazilian, who lived the whole life in Brazil, I alert: we have never been proud about the reality shown in the movie City Of God. This film is so true to life and heartbreaking for all of us. So, please, dont see criminal as a nice way of life or something. Futhermore, don't think entire Brazil is drowned in the crime, our country has beautiful places, wonderful people and great culture, as any other have.

Yeah, but don’t take it too serious, favelas showed in this movie are the most dangerous in the country and they’re not that bad as featured nowadays, in fact they evolved in a good way inside them there are grocery stores, supermarkets, pharmacies, local service and stores, but humbler, is like a “city in a city”. Kids and teenagers don’t shot each other for a couple bucks or to decide who is the actual head in the traffic of drugs of the hood. I’m just saying it because I left Brazil and people always generalized that every Brazilian is from a favela, although a high percentage of us never happened to get in one; we just get chocked as you watching on tv; plus super big violent favelas are major in our metropolitan cities and bigger ones and are like 40-50km away from the downtown and suburbs. This Movies show the sad reality of black Communities in Rio de Janeiro. Many of these people dont have great opportunity in life so they end up like that, but at the same time. Rio is probably the second best state for economical opportunity, and one of the most dangerous. It means, there are plenty of states where people are even poorer and there is way less crime, poverty can't explain crime rate, it has something to do with the ethical values of the city.

Just got back from a date with the girl of my dreams and its crazy met over a month ago on holiday and just so happened to live close to eachother, everytime i put this on i think of her its 3 am laying here looking up the stars just smiling ear to ear havent felt this good in a long time even if it’s nothing to do with love the beautiful voice behind just sends chills.
