The rail and safety lever swapped sides. Fancy trick photography haha. I kept the sporter hand guard for my .308 Saiga when I converted it, was comfy and liked it. Also left the BHO lever in there. I find it useful as the mags I picked up for that one didn’t have the feature. These are fun rifles in pretty much any configuration you wanna use.
I've got a local builder that used to be able to get Russian parts for these from Ukraine for the conversions. I asked him a few months back if he still could and he just laughed.
With increasing demand for 5.56 AKM's, I believe these will get more popular and price on Gunbroker sites will naturally go up. I have a Saiga 223 converted by M13 industries with Occam Defense hand guard and just a pleasure to handle.
The market price is simply due to the importation ban. They are no longer directly available from Izmash in Russia. Back in the day these were $250-$350 and I’ve owned a version of nearly all Saigas. Kicking myself for selling them. I would like to snag an unconverted x39 or .223 again.. basically replicating a Soviet mini 14. Change the FSB, add a better hand guard and a bullet guide and the rifle is set. The factory trigger on the x39 and .223 compared to the .308 model were actually not that bad at all. The .308 folded tin trigger is terrible.. but it works.
Would it be difficult to swap the barrel and barrel shroud on a saiga? I'd love to see the rear furniture of a saiga mixed with the front furniture of a KR-103
@@potatokilr7789 u wouldn't need to swap the barrel. It's a lot of work and not worth the squeeze unless you have the real parts like I do. Unfortunately, the c00m-brains at kusa have gone under and now its only palmetto and their out of spec monstrosities
Hey Leman, I'm sorry to bother you, but would you be interested in selling the .223 version? I've been looking for one for quite some time. Thank you in advance and I understand if the answer is no.
