Hallberg-Rassy is a number one brand most sailors dream of and their new Flagship 69ft Blue water cruiser is on another level. This Hallberg Rassy 69 has all the DNA of her smaller siblings but is all grown up,
We were the first at this year's BOOT Dusseldorf boat show to go around this 69ft beauty and we will get a second chance later on in September if you have any questions or want us to focus on certain things about this boat.

Beautiful boat. Things I like: In-mast furling, quality of woodwork, hard and nicely designed top, protected cockpit, flexiteek, fast. My concerns: for a boat that size, the galley, dining area, and saloon are modest. I suspect it's because the dinghy garage takes much space (which is why I'm not a big fan). What's the point of buying a nearly 70ft boat that is designed for 6 people? At that price I would instead go for the Oyster 675 whose interior and nav space are more spacious and the hull construction materials are better, unless I was going to spend most of my time sailing in cold climates.
@SVTONICBoatWives
@SVTONICBoatWives 7 месяцев назад
Going around the boat I got the feeling that this one was built for Magnus and his family even space for the grand kids, the galley is a good sea galley but I think when they are in port the local restaurant’s are going to be doing all the work. Unfortunately I don’t think I I did a good job showing off the space this boat has to offer but I do agree that the Oyster has a bigger Nav space.

The hull windows are all over the place unfortunately, from the outside looks like the cad software placed them with random offsets for position & size & nobody noticed. Notepad autocorrect changed the name, it was supposed to be the 68. The mystery gizmo might be something to do with the steering.

@gregtimm5295
@gregtimm5295 7 месяцев назад
Because they dont follow the shear of the deck, they do appear strange at first. My OCD left me noticing the same thing. They are actually not random at all, they are symmetrical both port and starboard and perfectly level with the sole of the boat, not the shear of the deck
@gregtimm5295
@gregtimm5295 7 месяцев назад
If you notice, from below deck, all the hull windows are perfectly level with the interior structures. Otherwise, they would look very strange from inside

Ah the window conundrum is always a balance or juggling act for the designers.
@paulpaul9914
@paulpaul9914 7 месяцев назад
@@gregtimm5295 My car sometimes has different wheel trims port & starboard, nobody ever notices. My basic hull window design rule is - saloon windows are positioned for a horizon view by an average height sitting person & sized to allow the same size windows to be repeated in other cabins where desired, other windows must follow the sheer line (or a steady bow to stern line ) window distance set by the saloon windows.

At 46.5 tons EMPTY and 247m² sail area - meaning at least 55 tons sailing weight - there is no way a couple handles this alone. If one "aid" is not working properly you are done. Docking will be very tense. This goes in the same box as middling Oysters: you need to employ a pro crew.

It is a similar sized boat with some similar features. I have never been in a position where I felt compromised for lack of crew.
