My girlfriend and I both think the placement of your stove looks great and we say forget what anyone else says - IT'S YOUR BOAT. Thanks for making the videos we love them.

I'm convinced! Haters gonna hate man - don't worry about them. You've thought it through and you're backing yourself. Plenty of armchair renovators will have plenty of opinions, but will never have done it themselves. Really enjoying your videos - keep up the great work.

Best "haters rebuke" I've seen. Well done indeed! As for the stove placement, you've done your homework, you've mocked it up, you've thought a great deal about it, looked at other options....so there's nothing left but the doing.

Agreed. Comments are obviously welcome on RU-vid but firstly, none of us are there. Secondly, this is his boat and his project. I understand disagreement, but I don't understand why anyone would be rude about it. Takes all kinds of people to make up a world I guess.

Well done. I'm in the industry for over 20 years and the standard of your work is high. There is a certain amount of 'bar room experts' that can't help themselves and unfortunately feel the need to be rude and so on. It's a shame because your work as I said is very good. I'm really enjoying the videos, so thank you.

The mock up looks absolutely perfect. Makes the heater seem more integrated rather than a round peg in a square hole. Might also help prevent the condensation under the fridge. Love the videos, can't stop watching them. Your presentation style is perfect. It is so obvious that you really enjoy exactly what you are doing. Living the dream. :)

There is truly is a natural risk you take in discussing any modification you make to your boat and sharing it with the public. As some people will think their opinion, regardless of not knowing all the facts, is the golden standard that all should abide. They all want to convince you that they are the one true profit of how all things should be done. So beware of that kind of arrogance. It exists in abundance on RU-vid. You are doing a great job and thank you for sharing your venture.

Rude comments over the placement of your stove? Seriously? I can't help laughing a little by the thought of how primitive a mind one must have to put energy into flaming someone else over where to put his own stove aboard his own boat. Apparently even neanderthals have internet. It difficult to see from a video, but to me the placement looks fine.

The fridge will still work fine no matter where you place the heater. If your plan is to travel to warmer climates the boat inside is going to be hotter than the reflex can ever put out and fridges still work fine for everyone else in those situations. Love your videos keep up the great work.

I think that most people can't give advise for some things unless they are there ; specifically when it comes to placement of equipment which is very difficult to determine unless you can physically check the location. Mads I think you did a great job researching the placement of the stove unless you would consider a different stove that is more compact ; of course I think the choice is preferenced in operation design ,function ,and style . You my dear Mads have covered everything possiblity in this video ,and the most important thing is that you are happy and satisfied with your choice !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol ! thumbs up , fair winds , and full sails !

While I do not have a boat, and although I hope to get a small trailer sailor to learn on, at 66 with a fixed income, The cruising lifestyle is probably not in the cards for me. That said I do so enjoy your journey. I have done many home improvements including heat sources, and your placement of the stove seems a fine decision given the problems you discussed. I have seen you do the one on your other boat, and I remember your adherences to all safety requirements. You do read and make an effort to abide with all safety requirements, and I respect you for it. So Go for it and keep up the good work. 😊😊😊😊😊

In my opinion, when you finally place the stove - rotate the cylindrical body of the stove so the window is at an angle and you can catch a glimpse of the flame more in different areas of the boat. Thanks for the vid. neat. Love how you really think these things through.

After sailing around on a H28 for ten years, I am looking at upgrading to a similar old boat to Athena. Your videos are invaluable. So when I got to this one I was a little concerned about the trolls. I would hate to see them ruin it for everyone. Anyway, looks like you have heaps of support from others who feel the same way. Looking forward to seeing the stove up and running as I work my way through the playlist. I am hoping to get south from Sydney Australia into the cooler uncrowded latitudes. Having one is a serious consideration.

Awesome video. It takes a lot of work to be an armchair critic. But it takes 99.99999% facts an assurance and a little stainless steel to drive the point home. Thanks for the explanation. The 1/3 of the heat out the top with distribution radiators makes perfect sense. Cheers.

Hi, I really like your idea of putting the stove a little more to the side. you might create a more "airy" feeling in the boat as you did in Obelix when you changed the table layout. Also, what you called the "odd look" of the worktop goes great with the oblique stepdown to the forward cabin. Too many people don't know empathy and need to have an opinion, and need to drain it on preferably anonymous forums. Anyway, the fact that you are brainstorming live, and the previous solutions you brought up show certainly that you do not walk over a single nights ice. Lots of courage, and I am looking forward to the next video Regards, Rob

Carry-on, Mads. I never had any doubt that your decision to put the stove there meant that you have exhausted all other possibilities. Also, I think once you put the countertop on like you have it and trim it out it's going to look great.

I know I'm four-years late to the party, but I'd have gotten a front-loading refer (mechanical) and put the heater on the counter-top. I can't wait to get caught up and see how it all worked out. Mads, really enjoy your videos, I'm nearly caught up to current time releases having been watching from the get go. The stove placement is the best option you have, I agree with your logic and process of elimination. The bonus is the stove is in the galley area where you can easily put a pot on it to heat within arms length so if you are heating with it in cool weather you don't also need to light a burner on the galley stove.
@HMStan
@HMStan 8 лет назад
Thx for this video and nice explaining for the options you have to install the stove. Place looks great to me. Also if you want to use radiators you need some space for hiding the pipes they will go to the aft cabin and the front cabin. In this place you might be an option for hiding this piping but make sure that you have access to them for service and isolatung them well also enough support mounts to minimize heavy vibration when in bad weather conditions.

Hi Mads, Looks like a good stove location. Closer to the hull is better. But you could enlarge the refridgeration by using polyisocyanurate as the insulation. It would be half as thick as polystyrene and is closed cell. Plus the facers can be heat reflective on both sides... This will keep the heat out and the cold in... Then the inside can be fiberglassed for hygiene purposes. I have used this product in house renovation and found it to be awesome. Good luck and I always enjoy your videos...

The counter mock up and location seem great. I agree with some others about placing the stove up on say a 10 inch pedestal to make it easier for cooking. Plus it would be easier to see the flame from the starboard settee. Either way ,it will be fantastic! Thumbs up!

Looks to me like the stove will work just fine by the fridge. I think most of us that agree with you didn't say anything on the previous video because we just assumed you knew best and thought it would work just fine. If I had realized the negative comments would be so numerous I would have chipped in with my two cents that it would be just fine.
