Hi guys! I'm so sorry about the audio issue. I've been trying different devices to replicate the issues but have been unable. Our best guess right now is that it's some kind of odd mono vs stereo issues possibly cassed by a new GoPro and/or new Wirelss Røde mic. I'm trying my best to figure out what is wrong to be able to fix it :)
Definitely sounds like left and right audio channels for dialogue are 180 degrees out of phase causing complete cancellation for viewers listening through a mono audio playback system. If listening in stereo it just comes across as slightly dizzying. Should be a pretty simple fix, likely just 1 button press away from the solution on the audio track.
We're all fans and in your corner. Assuming your release schedule's jammed, mono up the stereo files in your edit session (we use ProTools in feature film but I assume you're in Final Cut or Premier) and if any cancel, use only one side of the file panned center and mute or delete the other. The good ones can return to Left/Right. That should also tell you what signal chain is suspect (but keep the delightful content flowing while you troubleshoot). Rock on.
It can easily be the miniplug from the mic. Anyway in your stereoaudio in your videoeditor the should be a phaseinverter, Often shown as a Ø, or you can maybe buy a plugin that can invert the phase. But my best guest is the micplug...
Thank you so much! I know Ava is a little bit nervous. This is the first video she has shot and edited all on her own :) It's not DIY-related, and if previous experiments are any indication, then the video is not going to perform all that well, but I think she did an excellent job :)
There must be an issue where one of the audio channels is out of phase - this is caused by the signal and ground being reversed in the wiring. Get new audio cables and it should be fixed.
2:56 Mads is a big man! I usually don't see him out in crowded areas of people in the USA. It is no wonder that he loves those difficult DIY projects and the he can sand all day long making tons of glitter. Thank you for sharing this beautiful road trip!
After your intro clip with Mads, the track sounds 180 degrees out-of-phase with itself left and right, perhaps some L-R connector issue in your gear interface somewhere (I've noticed snippets of that issue previously and Mads' mic plays fine so maybe one of your lavs). It all plays weird but audible in stereo and probably totally cancels in mono playback, hence some of the comments. In editing software if you take the left side of Ava's dialog track and duplicate it to the other side for a stereo file (deleting the right side) you should have a centered mono dialog track which will play for everyone and you can repost. You can do oh glorious diagnostics by centering the panners temporarily if you're using stereo files in the edit window and spot check that it all plays. Other background or fx sound clips and any mono clips may be fine. That's my bloviating guess. Love your channel and your work. Always a treat.
When viewing on my phone with the built in speaker, after the intro I can only hear the little bit of background noises, but no voice over. If I put my headphones on, all is well.
Same here: last few videos, Mads comes in fine, the minute Eva comes one, no sound. I usually only listen in one ear, saw comments and the minute I put both EarPods, I could hear everything. Must be the audio tracks. Btw, great job Eva, love all the videos.

in the 9 years I have been watching Mads the biggest thing he has taught me is to just have a go, I have done a mini refit on my own Albin Ballad over the last 4 years, where I was able to collect a large number of tools and skills.... recently a plumber quoted 500+ euro to replace my bath drain and overflow in my house... thanks to Mads I have the confidence to do this job myself and I saved 400 bux!

I've also been having issues with audio for the last few episodes, specifically when Ava is doing a tour or talking. So maybe it is related to the equipment she uses? What i've noticed is that if I have one AirPod in my ear (this time it was my right ear, not sure if that is always the case) I will get muted, almost silent audio, but if I put in the other AirPod also, suddenly both ears get sound. Sometimes in previous videos the sound would continue to work even if I removed the second earbud. In this video it continues to work for a few seconds but then is muted again. Like some other commenters it seems like it has to do with stereo vs mono sound. Maybe it also has to to with AirPods and/or Mac sound, but I don't know since I only have a sample size of one. Some of the background noises in this video were really loud and clear, like the water tight door at 2:28. Anyway I always enjoy your videos even when you don't have DIY (but I enjoy them more when you do).
As someone who lives in Annapolis, works in DC, and frequently visits St. Michael's, this episode was a real treat! Next time you will have to visit by water.

Too bad you didn't make it to The Biltmore while in NC. Starting in October the entire mansion is decked out for Christmas if memory serves (been a few years). It is AMAZING to see that place, and find out it held many of our national treasures during WWII! As for DC, if you go again, you really need to go to Arlington. THAT blows away most of those other sites. Watching the Changing of the guard is incredible to see, they do NOT screw around on this. Old Bay...THE BEST! I really like Chesapeake Bay Seasoning, but Old bay is the best on shrimp and Crab. It's also really amazing on Salmon.
For those with audio issues I fixed mine by using my laptop speakers rather than my headphones, I think it has something to do with mono versus stereo sound, 🤔
Great videos guys. Got to say last 3 videos Ava Sound (around and about stuff) is inaudible, like completely. Mads is not. Just rustling, Very weird. All other videos work fine.

It is amazing how you keep Ava so quiet for 3 videos her vocals have totally muted though background noise appears ok at times. If you could spread that secret then there is no doubt many marriages may last a lot longer :)
I can´t hear anything besides the intro and the welcome with Mads+Eva - Had same issue in some parts of last weeks video as well.. @Mads, have you changed sound Codex on uploads or ?
