Part two of our 2018 trip from St. Helens to Astoria on SV Cabernet, a Cascade 29. Joined by my mom for this leg of the trip, we get our sailor names, watch my mom get used to a bigger keel boat, and experience a little rough weather.
We had a single reef in already as we knew we were going to find heavier air, but our second reef point was not set up with any lines (and still isn't). I've added that to my list of boat projects, because, yes, that might have been fun with a little less sail up.
@@sail-on I love the Cascade's and have a warm spot in my heart for the 29. I can't remember the exact year, it was probably in the early 1980's maybe a little earlier, a friend and I just wandered in to Yacht Constructors and they were really cool to show us what they were building and let us climb into a 29 they were working on. I must have spent an hour there. I was in my late teens or early 20's, obviously not in the market for a boat like that. But they took the time to talk about their boats. They come up for sale occasionally at good prices, If I could find a way to sneak one into my possession without my wife noticing, I'd be all over it......Maybe someday.
