Sailboat Refit #14- In this video I finally start painting the boat sides. I put 3 coats on then sand with 320 grit. I finish off with 2 more coats that look like glass.
@@finditfixitsailit9322 Thanks so much. I’m about ready to paint a 24’ center console I am building and considered getting a gallon. You just saved me a bunch of cash!
Takes me back to the beginning of summer all I was talking about was thickened epoxy, fillers, West System etc recently it’s been sanding and a range peel 😃Great work
Hi which primer/compound did you use? I have a fiberglass skiff that needs a new gelcoat so I'm thinking to use Alexseal instead if it would be quicker and easier to touch up. What do you think?
I think Alexseal paint would be easier than gel coat. You can use the regular Alexseal primer or the high build primer if you want to cover some low spots. The high build only come in gallons though and it’s much harder to sand. I recommend the regular primer.
@@finditfixitsailit9322 Thanks so much! DO you recommend using a different primer to save on cash or is it best to use both paint and primer by Alex seal?
I would use Alexseal primer with the Alexseal paint. Not sure how the paint would react with a different primer and if it didn’t adhere correctly it would cost you much more money and time.
