Here we are restoring a 1981 MacGregor 21ft sailboat! This thing has been sitting for nearly 4 years and needs a lot of cleaning, so sit back and enjoy the show!
Hey man just watched your camaro resto vids and this sailboat, hoping youre doin well and your content is awesome! im looking into a project car myself and ive always liked the 1970 camaro bodies. you definitely deserve more views, keep it up!
I figured it would shine up pretty good with power washing but was surprised how hard to clean the inside. I was also surprised to see the exact same rudder attachments and missing the same amount of rubrail in the same spot as my Venture 25. Looks like they were trying to do a lousy job of modifying the inside. Wrong metal brackets for sure. Hope you got it sailing again. Good video.
Great ! Someone who has the same Boat as My Restoration Project ! What Luck - but when are you going to do the next Video ? I need help in DIY re-stepping the mast area and replacing ie installing a new Macgregor 26 base plate for the mast. If and when you get er done.. she is a great boat to sail ! Do NOT GIVE UP THE SHIP ! ! !
That’s awesome! I haven’t given up on the boat, my wife and I had a kid so I had to slow down with RU-vid however I have A-LOT of footage that I still need to upload. Been busy with other adventures
@@gillhe1 I can't wait to watch them !! But take care of that little one FIRST ! Best wishes to you and yours. I am sure your boat will bring you all great fun and times. Remember you DO NOT have to finish it to start sailing it. Sail and work on it - don't let it become a project non-sailing boat !!
Thanks for the response. I will be looking for your next video. The pad looked coarser in the video more like one of the paint stripper disc. So that white foam was the soap not oxidation and gel coat inside the cabin. Really good info. Have you found parts for your boat expensive or reasonable to get it up to sailing condition? One of the two boats I am looking at currently is a Venture 22. It is in useable condition built needs to be freshened up, the other is an older Ensenada that has been gutted and disassembled but the bright side is redone
Green scotchbright round pad with dish soap and water on the interior then car soap and rinse on the outside. After that I buffed in some wax, that will be in the next video.
@@gillhe1Hi,oxalic acid diluted 10% with water will remove stains from fiberglass without abrading the surface.Phosphoric acid same dilution will also work
I'll do a breakdown at the end of the next video, the parts we need for the boat have been ordered so as soon as they come in I'll probably have the video up the day after. Thanks for the comments!
