In this video I get a little bit of glassing done before weather goes nuts! I also noticed a couple things that need addressing before I try to splash her. At least I get a decent view of progress on the boat so far. Weather will be nice next week so I should be able to get a lot more done. She is looking good though!!!

I am loving it. You got the proportions down right, it looks professional. Years ago it was popular to convert old ships lifeboats to motorboats. There are so many old fiberglass sailboats that would make great little motorboats. I think your series on this topic is going to be very popular.

Thanks my friend! I am doing what I can with what I have.... I dunno about being a popular topic....I hope it is! I was going to build a boat like it from scratch like I have several times before, but I got this boat free and had already gotten it in my name ( not cheap!) so this is what I am doing. This is going to be a lovely home on the water, or on the trailer. You have a great eye for the house boat/shanty boat cabin as its really well sized.

I'm enjoying your conversion of this sailboat into a trawler. I am curious though about having removed the keel. Why not have used the swing keel for keel weight and just glassed it in? What are you planning to use to keep the boat upright?

I did not remove the keel... it was already removed. I am semi disabled (you cannot tell from videos) and I could not move a heavy keel anyways. I have plans for the ballast and will reveal in later episodes when I get the material. Thanks for watching and thanks for the positivity! :)

Looks great Jeff.. U should add a flybridge. Have you ever tried building a catamaran with 2 sailboats side by side?

Thanks! Fly bridge would be too much weight aloft and too high to trailer, too high for the bridges and trees in the backwaters where I will be exploring. If it were for offshore...then yes it would be nice. I am planning on going where most cannot go in skinny waters, rivers, lakes etc. I have thought about 2 identical boats to make a catamaran,.... but you would need two identical fairly narrow beam hulls like the 17' Newport if they were longer. I like your thinking though! Thanks for watching!
