So many questions! You have the engine running, why?! There appears to be a rowlock on the stern, do you skull your 1a? Do you use a yuloh? Why is there a rowlock there?!
Just out of port. I was just running the engine till batteries where full at stationary. The rowlock can be used for skulling. But the rowing oar is mainly used for steering in reverse. Longkeelers are notoriously dificult too manuever. My skulling oar allows me too turn on the spot or steer in reverse by skulling along.
I only found this video from a post you made to the Yahoo forum for Trintalla 1a. You fly a sail from your inner forestay?! I thought that was 'storm jib' territory only! Where do you run the sheets to? I'm very interested!
I have a furling foresail. A half furled foresail has a very bad shape for sailing close too the wind. Thus at force 5-6 My large storm jibb works better than a half furled foresail. I have an even smaller storm jibb too. The sheets go inside the mast stays trough a second block on the rail and too the winch. If you are sailing more downwind the sheets go outside the mainstays. Biggest disadvantage of the storm jibb is when you need it the weather is bad to go forward and mount it on the forestay. If you are expecting heavy weather put it on the stay on time and leave it lowered on deck.
