So far we are loving the Norwegian Bliss!! We continue to wander and explore the ship until it is time for muster drill… and then the fun begins with the Sail Away Party!!! There is nothing like dancing on the pool deck to fun and lively music as you know you are heading off for a week of fun and adventure!! The best part was getting Jason and Ryan to line dance… that was hilarious!! And because it was Seattle, it was slightly drizzling but we did not let that stop our fun. This is going to be an incredible vacation.

I'm glad I don't have to come after Alisa for the scone faux pas! There's already been a British invasion at the comments section here! LOL. Don't worry, love, just happy you enjoyed the scone with the added jam this time. When you get home, you can make your own clotted cream. Takes about 24 hours but so simple to do and so good! Scones are easy too!
@jennifercross3043

Yes, I finally learned how to make my own Clotted Cream at home because I was having to buy so much of it. I attempted Scones a couple of times. My second time turned out Okay. They were edible! My Mom tried the last 2 batches both turned out Good! My daughter wants to try making some too. She's our resident Baker in the house. Is Lemon Curd Not an English Thing? I have NEVER personally Been to London YET! 🤔 I'm hoping to go on my Mom's Next Trip since I am getting a Passport now before our April Cruise. I figured since I am Embarking on a new phase in my life that includes lots of travel plans, I might as well get it and be done with it. That way if a LAST Minute opportunity arises, I don't have to Miss out because I Don't Have a Passport! 😘

The pearl onion made me smile. My parents were chefs in the 50's and 60's. I was raised on what I thought was normal food. When we had baby Lucerne peas mom always put pearl onions in them. We had a lot of sauces and roasted slivered almonds. You get the jest. If I had friends over and they stayed for dinner they'd look at the food and I'd have to explain. Parents would go to the elks club for dinner once a month and mom always asked what we wanted for dinner. Franco American canned spaghetti, cold from the can. We didn't know you could heat it up. But omg it was great. My mother being southern always made 2 proteins like ham and beef, 3 vegetables, some kinda bread and desert. Only was 2 things I just couldn't eat. Cream chip beef on toast and pouched eggs on corn beef. Chef talk was shit on a shingle and 2 eyes up. I had a great diverse life growing up. Couldn't have been better. I was raised on a cattle ranch so fun for me was knee high rubber boots and trying to walk thru cow manger without the suction taking the boot off. I was born in 1955. Never did I one time think the world and kids would be as they are now.

Well according to customer service the sail and sign/key cards now contain chips which you can’t punch a hole in anymore because it will compromise the chip in the card therefore we didn’t use the lanyards.

Cut the scone in half put the jam on one half and top with cream The other half top with cream then add the jam One is traditionally From Devon the other Cornish .

And do not ever combine the two halves into a sandwich! Each half is to be eaten separately. When EECC comes to London, we'll take them to the Connaught or Fortnum & Mason for a proper afternoon tea.

Alissa, You need to try eating a Scone with the Clotted Cream and Lemon Curd which is a yellow lemony flavored jelly type sauce(?) I guess. It's the only way my family eats Scones. We used to have a Traditional Tea Room Complete with the Red Hat Society. My Mom, my daughter and I used to go there every Pay Day for Lunch and have Chicken Salad Sandwiches, A Crystal Glass of Summer Blend Tea (A Rasberry based type of blended Tea) and it's all served on a China Plate with Scones, Tea Biscuits, a Dollop of Clotted Cream and Lemon Curd. OMG talk about Heaven! Sometimes we would share a piece of chocolate cake for dessert. The Chicken Salad had small slivers of some type of nut or Pecans, Grapes, Apples, and I never figured out what else. All I know is it was Delicious 😋! We always got a batch of a dozen Fresh Baked English Scones, Cup of the Clotted Cream and Cup of Lemon Curd to go and A Large to go Cup of the Tea of course. . Now, I buy Rasberry Tea Bags and make my own blend, by mixing my Tea bags. We usually use Regular Family size Tea bag, 2 Small Rasberry Tea bag, and 1 or 2 Small Orange Tea bags (Depending on who's drinking it) My Mom's Dream is to Open her own Tea Room with her sister. She's been to several English Tea Rooms in London where my brother lives when she goes to visit. So, she's seen the different traditions observed over there. I hope she's able to do it one day. 🤔 LMBO, maybe after I win the lottery! 😂😅🤣😘🥰🤪😜🤗

Hi, I am English and I have never seen a scone eaten with a knife and fork before. We would cur the scone in half, spread the jam on each half, cover the jam with cream and pick each half up with our fingers. But pleased that you enjoyed it.

A bit harsh to correct Alisa on the proper way to eat a scone, because if she had a proper scone, I'm sure it would have been much easier. 😜But it was lovely to hear the logistics of the Cornish scone and the Devon scone from you all who shared. 😍

Hey guys, hello from Australia - my wife Sue is a home baker, especially being a mum of 5, and does make scones at home.... In Oz we make our scones then slice in half sideways.... Sue personally normally adds home made jam & whipped cream or store brought jam does the job as well. We definitely do not use knife & fork to eat but rather our hands :-) If you like I can source & send a photo of how we do it Aussie style :-) If not there is an open invitation for you both & your boys to come & visit, stay at our place & try Aussie style of living :-)

Me Too. We had a Tea Room where I used to live and we ate there every Month on payday. The Family that ran it said it was modeled after a English Tea Room. It was called Mary's Tea Room. It was so lovely. I really enjoyed it. I Love Lemon Curd. It's what they served with the Scones and a Dollop of the Clotted Cream.
@tonyp011
@tonyp011 5 лет назад
well Elisa you ate that scone cream and jam wrong LOL, as you meant to spread both the cream and jam on the 2 halves of the scone once you have cut it in half, just because you had the scones at tea time on Carnival and the jam wasn't an option thats not to say the English are wrong and the carnival cruise company are right because im afraid the tea time you had on the carnival ship was totally wrong, because in England we call it cream teas where you get a cup of tea, a scone which you cut in half and spread jam on first followed by the cream and the cream teas were invented in 2 of our county's which are Devon and Cornwall and the 2 cream teas are different and have different names, I.e Devonshire cream tea and Cornish cream tea, while one County puts the jam on before the cream, the other puts the cream on before the jam, so in answer to your sons question yes the English are right in the way the scones are done not carnival, and the piece of scone jam and cream you had on your fork where you said it perfect, it wasn't as you should cut the scone in half starting at one side to the other then you could have experimented by on one half putting the cream on first followed by the jam, and then on the other half put the jam on first followed by the cream and see which way round you preferred the taste, as they do taste different then you would have tried a cream jam scone from both the county's I mentioned without the cup of tea, if you put the cream on first followed by the jam then thats the Devon version, and if you put the jam on first followed by the cream then thats the Cornish version, hope that helps and explains the difference
