**We put up a new Intro on this Video guys! Let us know what you think of it! We love to hear back from you! And please give us a thumb up of you like the video!! Lot´s of love! Larissa and Chris!**
Ahhhhh, the mystery is solved for me; you worked on oil rigs. That explains you're diverse and accomplished repair and fabrication skills. These are important and helpful for what you're doing. You two have open and engaging attitudes with the right amount of seriousness and childishness. Good videos, great adventure. I wish you continued luck and success.
For a two person crew covering that route in all of that sea traffic, during the night and day, with strong tides and wind and going over regions where the bottom topography can change...well kids you did an amazing job. You had a right to be scared. Even accomplished sailors with 20,000 to 30,000 sea miles under their keel would have found that daunting.
Another great video. You guys are quickly becoming one of my favorite sailing channels. The smile on Larissa's face for the sun coming up was priceless. Thanks for sharing.
Kauana Sailing Expedition I like Delos, Living with the Tide, Winded Voyage, La Vagabond and several others. You and Larissa have great chemistry together. Thanks for sharing.
Great video glad you are showing so much of the sailing. You guys have shot to the top of my list of sailing channels along with Free Range Sailing. Thank you so much for letting me come along for the ride.
Intro is excellent and this episode was awesome, you had some ruff conditions but you and the boat just breezed through it, big thumbs up from me👍👍looking forward to the next instalment
Great Video. You nicely explained the problems of sailing in the Northsea. Looks like you have just the right boat for it. Keep it up and save travels.
Fantastic, what a trip you can really feel this is going to be a great adventure, I have watched from the beginning and you look like you have settled into living on the boat well. Enjoy
Well, you blew my model in a previous life theory lol. I'm sure Larissa was though! Seriously though, that was a great video and really cool intro. Was really interesting the clips from when you were on the oil rig. Scary stuff and I can't imagine it in a relatively small sailboat. Good to see that you made it and brought us another great video.
Another great video guys, love that you have so much respect for the sea, so many who buy a boat and set off blind to the possible dangers. I sail a Rival 32 from UK usually solo. Lovely boat you have and it will look after you. Keep safe. Andy
Kauana Sailing Expedition when are you guys sailing again or posting a video? It takes a lot of time I know but hope you are at least sailing and having fun. Andy
Felicidades! now that there are dozens of sailings channels (most of them nothing too special) I find yours different and interesting. Parabens from Madrid!
The new intro was good,,very professional looking ... and this episode was off the charts .. The North Sea is a very congested area and prone to some serious ruff sea ... looks like the two of you came through like champs ,, Bravo !! Looking forward to seeing what the future holds for both of you ... good luck and fair winds from Florida .
We've been to Cuxhaven and loved it. While there you might have gone to Bremerhaven and Bremen. They were very interesting as is most of Europe.. Good Sailing! :)
Great video, love your channel. The passage from Cuxhaven to Den Helder is nearly never an easy one. Some say, when you can sail that you can sail the seven seas. You both did it very well. Good luck !!
Well done guys, what an achievement! Great episode and you so well explained the challenges of the leg! Looking forward to the next one. (And work on the music pls 😉)
Nice ,thanks!!! I have been strugling with the music!!! It´s so hard to find copyright free music that is also good!!! But I found the spot now!!! It will get muuuuuuuuuuuuuch better!!! I promise! hahaha
Yep, the North-Sea definitely the most dangerous Sea on the planet, weather can and will change from a nice day to "ooh F**k😲⁉" in no time at all, thankfully you're aware because of your background as an North-Sea oil rig worker. Great video guy's, thumb's up 👍.
That same trip has bitten me before! Short horrible seas and the zeegats between the islands are something else! Now cross the Channel dodging 700+ ships a day! Safe passage.
Yeah, we had a good one through that chanel!! I guess it´s all experience in the end right!! A ton of it in a short time thogh!! Was watching your videos! Nice one! I like you Twizzle Rig explanation! I was planing on using the same over the trades... But with a jib and a Genoa... Against your Same Size Sail recomendation... What do you think is the disadvantage of that? Thanks for stoping by!
Hi Chris, not too sure how the different size sails will affect balance. If you can hoist them on a twin groove furler foil then you get the big advantage of easy reefing with a single crew on watch and easy trimming to a wide angle of following wind. I'm happy to help in any way. Fair winds to you both.
Yeah, I was thinking that Balance could be the main problem, but I need to try it first obviously... It might work!! Send me an email and we can chat better!!! kauanasailingexpedition@gmail.com
Hi, Larrisa and Chris. Another great video. You two are very brave at night, It must be very nerve-racking. I suppose there is no choice if a journey takes longer than calculated. The intro seems fine. Forgotten what the other one looked like. All good anyway. You two are my favourite couple out of all the channels now. And your braving cold Europe. Not too many out there will do that, perhaps. Larrisa your pretty hot, lovely girl, Chris your a great guy and a lucky Lol... Good personalities and very humble, genuine people. Wish you both a very safe onward journey. Ive been to Rotterdam and Amsterdam. Worth exploring.
You should not be handling lines such as sheets, guys, spinnaker halyards, etc. that are under tension without leather gloves to protect your hands. There are cases of fingers being cut off while handling spinnaker lines. Take a turn around a cleat or winch if needed to allow it to take a heavy load rather than your hands. Great vids. Thanks for the wonderful sights!
Wow, like it! I lived up in Kiel for a while, studying Marine Biology, great sailing ground and nice people! However I am quite glad to have escaped to warmer waters....
Kauana Sailing Expedition we are currently in datca, turkey with our boat independence. Just bought here after moving over from myanmar where we had our last boat.... feel free to check our channel for all the infos 😉
Yeah I did chek out your chanel straight away! Very cool what you-re doing! We´re not that far apart the now! We´re in Northern Spain... atlantic side... Dealing with the winter here, but it has been great! Nice one... I will send you a message on pvt!
Kauana Sailing Expedition sweet! Nice, would be nice to get in touch and possibly meet up at some stage somewhere on the seven seas! Until then i will keep following you guys!
hi larissa and chris , good job with the videos ,come quickly to Spain, that we have some sun for you and that larisa regains her smile , you will get warm and happy 2018.
thanks for all the great videos. they are very inspiring to say the least. one question so: is there any special reason you registered the boat in Germany? It just seemed odd for a moment when I saw it. A Swedish boat bought in Finnland, sailed by Brazilian couple under German flag ... :)
"The Haring" De Haring is nice,...especially with union 👍. People thought it was strange we Dutch eat raw fish, but now everybody is suddenly eating Sushi because it's cool hahaha 😂, we have to thank the Weeaboo community for that.
Ok, you asked so here is MHO. Intro is great. Really good in fact. I do think you need to shorten the intro and the previous episode part from 1:25 to around 30-40 seconds. Just quick highlights. As always, appreciate you taking us along with you. Another quality video my friend.
Kauana Sailing Expedition : Don’t apologize bud, you asked for feedback. Honestly your videos are very good compared to most and getting better all the time. I look forward to each week. It was great finding out more about your background. That’s actually a good idea for both of you in a future episode. Where you came from, how you met, where she worked, etc..
Chris, Larissa. Great episode! Scary work, dodging all of those big ships. I'm assuming they could see you on AIS. If not - eek! I heard in a previous episode your comment to a shopkeeper that your HR 39 might be too big. Can you comment on why this might be? Thanks. :-)
By that time AIS was working fine... we got it up and running in Denmark... It took me a litle while to figure it out. It was more like a joke with the size... we think 39 is perect. Although the joke was more towards parking in marinas and having to clean the boat as every size is the too big!! ahaha!! Thaks!
Linda abertura do vídeo, cores e arte d+!!!! Parabéns!!!como sempre com muita emoção e humor!!! Lindo casal, super conectados e fazendo a mais bela história juntos!!! Amo vocês e tô na torcida por bons Ventos sempre
Thanks Thomas!!! You know, not many people want to be reading subs all the time so... well... for now that´s the best option for us and we don´t mind... helps us to practice!
Hi, i saw the copany emblem on Your offshorejacket in the stormscene from the rig..and as fare as i know Can only do ropework! AND ive been working side by side With Can england and Can Norway on demolition of and old ELF rig (now Total) some years ago, also been working With CAN on some jobs in Norway.Im actualy working as we speak on Statfjord Field, Funfact: i solosaild almost the same route as you guys are sailing in 2007...but my route was Bergen (Norway), shetland-fair island- oorkny island-inverness-Caledonian canal-irish sea-irland-lands end-brest and back the same way you guys are coming Down! and did it in my offperiods from work..great adventureAnyway..its great following the vlog and im looking forward to every episode..fair Winds and happy ship to KAUANA and her fantastic crew :-)))))
Takes one to know one!! Hahaha! Nice one! Man, we must have met at some point somewhere then. It´s nice to find fellows with the same background and same likes... The other day, Hallberg Rassy posted a picture of a guy sailing past a rig on one of their boats, the message bellow was that he used to work on that rig on the ropes too... I found that so much coincidence... Messaged him but never got a reply! I guess we have the salt in our veins in such a way that we just keep geting back to it no matter how!! Anyway man! Really nice to hear from you and stay safe out there! Those destruct jobs can get Nasty!! We know it aye?!?!
Give us another chance man!!! Hahaha!!! After the next video things will change!! Was strugling to find copyright free music that was aldo good... found it now though!!!
Welkom in Nederland! : P But if want my honest opinion, I don't like the intro, it's like to much for me. (again, my opinion) Apart from that, thumbs up!
