It’s hard to comprehend the fact that humans began to craft vessels and sail the world thousands of years ago. The feeling you get while out in the ocean, watching your boat dance with the wind and waves is like no other. Sailing fast and true. Traveling with the wind so we can see and explore new destinations. Even the rogue wave coming from another direction barely knocks our Seawind off her course with our Monitor Windvane steering us along. These moments of surreal emotion happen often while on passage. It seems as though the ocean knows these big feelings are down inside you, and she refuses to have anything else evoked by her power. Even writing this now after the fact, I’m in awe of it all.
This week we show you what the Grand Bahama Yacht Club is like in Freeport, Bahamas. This is where we checked into the country last time, and it is from here that we will leave to sail south into the Berry Islands. The weather has changed in our favor, and the days forecast should have some fast downwind sailing for us and our girl. A few other boats at the club are also taking this opportunity and so we all leave in the early morning hours for our 64 nautical mile sail to a new anchorage and a new adventure.
Step aboard Seawind with us for some awesome sailing as she stretches her legs and shows us what she’s made of!
