Join me as I spend the summer cruising the Chesapeake Bay in my Tayana 37 sailboat.
In this episode, I explore the great city of Annapolis.
The song on this video is Footfalls Before Dawn, written and composed by Emet Baker, or known as Quickbeam in the thru-hiking community.

Hi Mike! You made my day. I was just thinking about being glued to your AT hike watching every video, and missing your Journey and insight on the trail. I was wondering if you were coming back. And now you show us another aspect of your incredible life, boating. Your a natural with Vlogs, and your presentation about your sail boat, the history of the area, and your trip was amazing. I hope you share in the future the history of the boat and your journey to get it in this shape. Thank you for coming back to us, and please keep the videos coming. Be Strong, Be Safe, and thanks for taking us on this journey.

Great video. Only thing I knew about Annapolis was that the US Naval Academy was there. So thanks for showing me around and teaching me what the town has to offer. I'm unable to travel like I'd like so I'm traveling vicariously through you. Thanks for taking me along. Take care and stay safe.

Loved this video. Have sent it to my 89-year-old father in Ireland, who visited the naval base Norfolk in 1961, when serving in the Royal Navy. I will be in Washington DC with my daughter in December to celebrate her graduation from high school here in 🇦🇺 and will try and persuade her to come with me to Annapolis!

Good point . I was attempting to balance what I wanted to show while keeping the video length down. In the future, I will attempt to focus on fewer topics but delve into each more.

@oldmanandtheat3093 you truly do a FABULOUS JOB on your videos! (I watched all of your Appalachian Trail videos and loved them too). You do a fabulous job on balancing subjects. Just maybe a few seconds longer on those magnificent buildings. There is SO MUCH HISTORY there. It's breathtaking!!!!

Great Video, Thank You for taking time, it was beautifuly shot, well spoken, and historical that many would not get without people like you taking the time. I am a Idaho Mountain Man, with ties to pre-revolution history through that end of our history. I am almost ready for a transition in life, where I am looking to retire to the Ocean for a while. I have done some Lake Sailing on small craft, but nothing to the knowledge of the sea. I am looking at boats now, namely the Hans Christian, or Tayana, and trying to find starting pointers for where to start my sprouts for sea legs. Any info you can give on where the best place to start to the first steps I will need to take before ferrying whatever ship I may purchace to gain safe passage to a sailing school, would be insightful.... I look forward to more of your content,, and happy I caught you early in this chapter of your life. GODBless, and Safe Passages.

Thank you for the kind words. To your question. First, learn as much as you can. Read books, watch videos, ask questions. Second, at some point, make the jump to the new life. Find a boat that suits your needs and buy it. There is no qucker way to learn about a boat than to own one. To let you in on a secret, sailing is easy compared to everything that goes into maintaining a boat. Picking the right boat is a whole topic by itself. A possible interim step would be to volunteer on someone else's boat, but that might not be a viable option for you, given your distance from the water. Good luck and keep me posted on how your doing.

yeah,, gunna make the jump,, have a friend who, I always looked up to growing up in a Olymipic Production Ski Town of the 50's, 60's and 70's in Idaho, who is now a Captain of her own Vessel in Florida, and I will, get boat soon, and hit her up, with a proposition of use of the boat for charter, after I purchase, several months of Summer, and Several of Winter, if she will mentor me to be a safe Captain, and hope she will want to take time off once in a while to sail, wherever the Bow Points.
