You should! It's an incredible island that is more beautiful than you ever thought possible. I can't wait to go back and explore the south and east of the country.
So yeah Sarfaq or kystskibet is a very important because of two things, it is a lot cheaper and more reliable then planes. of course there is a longer traveling time but that can be planned for. there used to be a total of 3 coastal ferries but because of a lot more implimentation of plane routes, they could not keep the 2 extra ships going. I live in Aasiaat
Thanks for the information! I didn’t know that there were more ferry routes long ago. It’s definitely an important way to travel in Greenland & I enjoyed my experience 👍🇬🇱
@@DrifterDave February has the most sea ice, so it can be a bit dodgy to run the route in that time. But who knows, with global warming, maybe that won't be an issue soon.
You did a great job filming and narrating this video Dave...really enjoyed it though I don't think the boat trip would work for me...way too "bouncy"...
Thank you for the kind words! It was my pleasure to bring you along for the ride. It's truly a jaw-dropping itinerary, and i can't wait to go again at some point (next time, in summer!).
10 days - I flew to Kangerlussuaq, then Ilulissat. Then the ferry to Nuuk. Then flew Nuuk - Kangerlussuaq - Copenhagen. Total cost was $500 Canadian Dollars for the flights and $300 Canadian for the ferry. Thanks for the kind words 🙏
@@DrifterDave Will watch the rest of your Greenland video's. I would plan to visit in late August next year so there is daylight, did you experience the Northern Lights?
Nice one Dave. Never thought to visit Greenland before... just curious have you ever taken a cruise before? Like the Caribbean ones from FLorida? Or Alaska cruise from Vancouver?
Yes, I've taken two cruises in my life - one from Vancouver to Alaska (2001), and one around the Greek Islands & Turkey (2008). Apart from that, I've taken segments of the Hurtigruten coastal ferry in Norway (2015), and the overnight ferry cruises between Sweden and Finland (2010). It's been a little while though!
@@DrifterDave nice. I am researching either an alaskan cruise from YVR or Caribbean from Miami. Our family has never been before so something a little different. Just saw your recent stranded video! Great service from the airline. Air canada or Pearson would never be so hospitable! Where are you now? Did you manage tog et to Sweden like you planned?
@@JaKi052 I did! The Scandinavian videos will be released following this Greenland series 👍 I highly recommend the Alaska cruise - it’s a great option to explore a lot of wild Canadian/American wilderness in one journey. Thanks for checking out my channel!
@@DrifterDave looking fwd to the scandinavian series! i first learnt about ur channel when i was researching for my folks- how to get from CPH to city centre video. been a fan of ur channel since then. keep it up!
