What a cool world we live in where two people can just get a boat and live in it. The level of technological and societal/economic advancements that took place in order to make this happen are awesome.

Less Saints looks like a wonderful place to cruise to. Beautiful. FYI, Steph. After watching the episode where you talk about Pho, I decided to give it a go for my first time. Was fun, yet time consuming. Was able to find colantro as you showed,as well as chive leaves and Tai basil and rock sugar. The recipe called for bottom round beef,yet I used ribeye. Got my grocer to package up some beef neck bones which were very meaty. Came out great, yet I've never had it before. The Asian market even had all the spices in one package so I didn't have to buy a whole bag of each. Thanks for the suggestion.✨🌊💨⛵️🏝👙🌞✨

Oh wow! Made the broth from scratch and all. What a great find with all the herbs in one package. Hope you made a big batch to save! It is time consuming but well worth it! Well done 👏🏼 👏🏼

Should make Dominica one of your stops. It’s a cool little island and one of my favorites. Safe travels.

I forget what it is, but it is not latex. Latex is what we make rubber out of. I have a bunch of aloe vera plants. I use aloe vera every day. You can eat the flesh. The yellow stuff may give you the runs. To process it for consumtion one must cut it up into small pieces, soak it in water ... the yellow stuff will come out. I give it a second soak to ensure there is no yellow stuff. Then I fillet the chuncks and throw it into a blender. I use it for shaving cream, an anti-microbial, for mosquito bites, cuts, and burns burns. I would have collected a bunch. That was a huge plant.

After the yellow stuff comes out, I keep the bits in my fridge and only process it as I consume it. I eat it up when I cut it up, but it is generally on standby in my fridge.

Yeah I think it’s just referred to as aloe latex if you search online, but it’s the juice that has laxative properties in it. The pulp is on standby for burns and bites for us as well.

..... did not realize that Travis is from BC, thought you were both Ontarians .. I reside currently in Penticton ... do not know why but the big thing that sticks in my mind as writing this is the shots on your journey of the water along the hull, so majestic are the words that come to mind for me .... was just thinking a week or so ago that it has been quite a while since Travis had his bike out, too bad about all the glass .... great that you remember some of your French from school Steph and have now got Skillshare to help you enhance you communication capabilities .... thx for sharing ... as always .. never stop dreaming, just dream bigger .. have fun be safe, save our oceans ....

I would think the island Terre Haute would translate to "high land". As you continue your sail to the main island of Guadeloupe, consider stopping at Deshaies on the western side. It is the filming location of the BBC show "Death in Paradise" and the fictitious town of Honore on the fictitious island of Sainte Maria. Sights include the Honore Police Station and the restaurant Le Madras which is featured often in this show. There is also a historical garden in town.

Steph, I am curious to know if your old ankle fracture gives you much trouble while you are hiking the hills you guys climb? Also you may want to suggest to Travis that he needs to crank out a couple hundred push-ups for each donut that he eats. I am sure he could come up with some creative ways to do push-ups on the boat.

Cut the skin off the aloe or just let all the yellow run out. It is very bitter and will stain almost anything it touches.

How many watts of solar do you have? Has it been enough? Have you done a video on your solar and batteries?
@SailingJibsea
@SailingJibsea 2 года назад
We currently have 640 watts installed and we’re fully charged (1000amp hours) by lunch. We talk about it a bit in episode 58.
