Just got a very similar Sailor 1911 Profit Junior "KUROGANE" Limited Edition (Basically the same pen in translucent grey with golden accents) and I agreewith your description. I love my Sailors. This is my seventh Sailor and the second with a nice steel nib. These nibs are very precise and more "expressive" than most other steel nibs (whether they be JoWoo, Bock, Schmidt or Platinum or Pilot). Excellent pen at a nice price!

I own three of these in different colors. They are superb writers as you'd expect from Sailor. How this guy wishes we'd had entry level fp's this nice-writing when I had to write with them throughout the sixties!

Included convertor is long time overdue. Nice the finally listened. Availability only in M-F nib is the real bummer. Otherwise looks like a great starter pen.

I agree on the nib sizes. I write small--even if it taxes my poor ageing eyes--and an Extra Fine would be very welcome. Perhaps Pilot will release the Compass with this option in the future? ♥

@@marymckay-eaton2169 I have a Taccia Spectrum in Umber with a Sailor steel extra fine nib which is buttery smooth and writes on the wet side. I use Goldspot pens alot but when I can purchase a pen at the same time and have the nib tuned this is the direction I prefer to go. I got mine fron The NIbsmith and Dan Smith tuned the nib for me. My other favorite fine steel nibs are the Pilot Metropolitan and any of the TWSBI nibs with the extra fine nib.

It's a great alternative to the Pilot Metropolitan as one's first FP (and better imo) My first 2 fountain pens were a Kaweco Parkeo and a Lamy Safari, which I still own and love. I have some expensive writing tools, but I found that I really enjoy the cheaper ones because they're fun and have such cool designs, my favorite cheap one being the Rotring surf, that pen fits me so perfectly It's really cool that so many companies, from Pelikan to Pilot, offer entry level FPs for a beginner and for kids, to immerse themselves in the world of writing tools and FPs!

If you add a layer of clear nail polish to the back, it should stop it from leaking and you can eye-dropper it. I’ve done it to all of mine.

Jet Pens sells Sailor-made, Nagasawa-branded pens that seem to be very similar to the Compass. If they're the same pen, I can honestly say that they are great pens. The FM nib is a bit on the fine side for me but I've had no problems with it. No skipping, no hard starts, none of the leakage problems I've heard about from Sailor converters. The Nagasawa is probably the only Sailor pen I'll ever be able to afford, so I'm glad I like it.

No, these nibs are firm stainless steel.

I just purchased one of these pens and am very disappointed. It is extremely light and feels cheap in the hand. The medium/fine nib may be OK in gold but is way too thin in steel. No flex at all. This is the second review I've seen and neither reviewer does a wetness test. That's because it is so dry. I tried Sailor ink and Diamine...Nada. Better to buy two Pilot Metropolitans.

Technically the Monza is a knockoff of a knockoff. So in other words the Monza is a knockoff of the Jinhao 992 as the Jinhao 992 is a knockoff of the sailor 1911 collection. The sailor compass is actually the original version
