I maybe wrong, but I think this is originally designed to mimic the brush pen line for writing Japanese and Chinese Calligraphy. I think the Japanese pen makers also sell nibs that are bent upwards specifically for that purpose. Can you review one of those someday? It will be really cool!

@@chumpo6130 I have two Sailor Fude de Mannen pens-the biggest difference is the angle of the bend in the nib, and personally I find the one with a 40 degree angle much easier to use than the 55 degree one. Someday I’d really like to get a naginata togi, but if you want to mess around with an inexpensive, no-frills fude (kinda feels cheap) they’re not bad. I recently bought a Sailor 1911 with a bold Naginata Emperor nib. It is excellent, but I find I miss fully seeing the etching on the nib, which is mostly obscured by the hood on the top of the Emperor nib. Do I have any viable options here in terms of the nib’s aesthetic?
@Inazarab

@larryterry4337
@larryterry4337 Год назад
@@Inazarab I was drawn to it because of the very heavy line it facilitates. It was not pitched to me as a dip pen, but rather one excellent for long periods of writing or note-taking. @Inazarab
@Inazarab 2 года назад
Montblanc doesn't offer anything like this. Yes, the design of the pen body is a 146 rip-off; no argument. But the nib is a whole other story. Sailor has some of the most interesting nibs on the market, and IMO much better than Montblanc, even their standard nibs. Montblanc is a total rip-off. I'm not saying their bad, they're perfectly fine pens, but probably only worth the cost of a 3776. Brand name doesn't matter. What matters is the quality of the actual pen and nib balanced against the cost. I'll never understand why anyone would purchase a Montblanc. I just can't fathom the justification for that value proposition.
