I own this bag. The wear and tear is pretty good except on the hardware. If you pull up preloved bags you will see most wear is scratches to the hardware other than that the leather doesn't show signs of wear.
It’s quite difficult to open the flap in a hurry even on this size so I think small would be slightly fussier but of course it depends on what you intend to use it for!
