What an enlightened person. Gave clear cut idea about mind. When thought comes in the mind don't resist it forcefully, the more you resist the thoughts will attack you with double the force, rather be silent and become an witness. When they realize there is no obstruction for them they become silent automatically. The more we resist the more mental energy is lost. Jai swami Shivanand🙏🙏
It took me a while to realise that energy is also lost in resistance. And when energy is lost strength to fight the urges is lost hence we fall.. Also when energy is lost creativity is lost. Vitality is lost..
Mind is Atma shakti. It is the mind only that Brahmana or the supreme self manifest as a differentiated universe with heterogeneous object. Mind is nothing but a collection of Samaskaras or impression. Mind is nothing but a bundle of habits. The true nature of mind consists of Vasanas or the subtle desires. The idea why our Egoism is the seed of the tree of mind, the sprout which springs up from this seed egoism is the intellect or the Buddhi. From this sprout the ramified branch called the Sankalpas or the thoughts take their origin. Mind is made up of certain satvik matters. According to the Chandogya Upanishad, Mind is made up of subtle portion of food. Mind is two type- Shuddha or the pure mind ; Asuddha or the impure mind. The former helps the aspirant to attain liberation. While the latter leads to bondage. The temporary assort of mind in the object of the meditation will not help you to attain liberation ,only annihilation of mind can label you to achievethe final emancipation or moksha. Have a no longing for object. Reduce your want. Cultivate vairagya or the dispassion. Vairagya thins out the mind. Do not mix much, Do not talk much, Do not walk much, Do not eat much, Do not sleep much. Control your emotions, abandon desires and vasanas. Control irritability and lust. Slay the impure mind to the pure mind . Transcend the pure mind to the meditation. Practice perfect Brahmacharya. Never wrestle with Mind. Don’t use any violent method in contemplation or the concentration. When the mind is jumping and wondering much make no violent method to control the mind. Rather run along a while and exhaust the efforts. It will take advantage of the opportunity and jump around like an untamed monkeyat first . Then it will gradually become quite. If evil thoughts enter the minddonot use willforce to drive them. You will lose energy & you will fatigue yourself. More efforts you made, more evil thoughts will return with double cause. They return much more quckly also. Evil thoughts will become powerfull also. Became a silent witness of of all those thoughts. Be different. Keep quite. Become silent. Don’t identify with this evil thoughts. They gradually subsided and become vanish soon. Substitute good thoughts and pray. Regularity of paramount importance. When the mind is tire d . Don’t use any violent method to concentrate. Donot take heavy food. JAPA, KIRTAN, PRATIHARA, SATSANG, PRACTICE OF SRENITY, SELF RESTRAINT, RIGHT CONDUCT, SATVIK FOOD, S TUDY OF SCRIPTURES, VICHAR SHUDDHI, ATMIK INQUIRY ALL THOSE WILL HELP YOU TO CONTROL OF MIND AND ETERNAL BLISS OF IMMORTALITY…………… CORRECT ME IF THERE IS A MISTAKE
Such a simple way Swami has explained about meditation and the nature of mind. He was fully enlightened person. We are so unlucky because we were not born in their age. In this age we only see acrobatic yogis runs behind money name and fame. I believe Swami Shivananda Ramana Maharshi both. Because they were fully enlightened souls.
Quality of Enlightenment implies development of Various Virtues in Actual Day to Day Practice. One of these Virtues is Humbleness. When we read the Books / Records about Sivananda / Ramana Maharishi, both of them had developed this Virtue to a very large extent. While Sivananda used to even shampoo the legs of sick people, Ramana Maharishi was known to cut vegetables in the kitchen, for the benefit of large number of visitors to him, each day, for many years. Just Google for Books on both these Enlightened People and Enjoy Reading through them, as I did.
