Die Healing was my first encounter with Saint Vitus as well and it was totally mindblowing. Seeing them back together this way is litterally a dream come true.

Die Healing had a mysticism. It is unreachable, a sacred thing!

Die Healing is one of my favorite Doom Metal albums.

Die Healing is the perfect doom album, at least for me!

And Sunn O is releazing an album this april.

And Count Raven are recording too, I think these last two years was gold for doom with New albums of Spiritus Mortis, Dawn of winter, mirror of deception and as you say Candlemass n Vitus too!

But the new Candlemas album doesn't sound very good. This new Saint Vitus songs sounds better.

Black Sabbath I would disagree. The door to doom was excellent; best album they made in a while and of this year even.

Jimmy I think you're 100% correct on this. Reagers and Weinrich both rule in my opinion.

@@Rocknrollwillneverdie69 I'm a big Wino fan, he's good on Vitus but he's at his peak when playing guitar. The Obsessed is where he truly shine. So as Reagers, the ol' hardcore attitude on their first albuns can only be achieved with Reagers.

Well Trouble also released 2 self titled albums (1984 & 1990) and then the first was renamed Psalm 9. Leathewolf's first 2 albums from 1985 & 1987 are also both self titled and totally different.

I'm so used to calling the first Trouble album Psalm 9 that I forgot it was initially a self-titled album haha

FullMetalGuy yeah that always bugs me, why have your new album self-titled when you already did it it doesnt make sense.

Saint Vitus has been around longer before Celtic Frost or Hellhammer was even a concept, lol.

@@MedIevalCyrax They recorded their first album in 1982, so not so long ago as the first album Hellhammer. Also, their first album did not sound like Celtic Frost at all. In new albums you can hear that they are inspired by such bands as Celtic Frost.

@@Doputa new album sounds in no way like Celtic Frost, saint Vitus has always had faster songs when Scott Reagers was the vocalist due to his dynamic vocal style, this just sounds like Die Healing Part 2, Dave Chandler is playing the guitar like he always has, there's nothing dynamically different, have you not heard the older Album's with Scott Reagers? They've been a band since 1978. Hellhammer wasn't even a concept in 1978.

Most of SV songs from the early albums were already written in the late 70's when they were known as Tyrant. Hellhammer/Celtic Frost wasn't even formed in that period. The bands have something in common because of similar influences (Sabbath, Priest, hardcore punk) but still very different bands.

+Helvete Ulverblack metal newfag much?the concept of hellhammer has been around long before 82 (go buy toms books) aswell so its safe to say that both tom and sv have pretty similar influences thus resulting in musical simularities.just cos youre to pick up on them doesnt mean they dont exist.the guitars alone are super similar in both riffing playing style and soloing.

Reagers in THE voice for Saint Vitus, not the slightest doubt about that, but I wouldn't depreciate Wino at all. He did wonders with Vitus as well. He's an icon, a fantastic frontman and his voice is also legendary. He gives me the chills on tracks like I Bleed Black or Dying Inside, just like Reagers gives me the chills on Dark World or In The Asylum... It's just different, but both are really great. Extremely happy, though, to see Reagers back in Saint Vitus ! These are great times for Doom, and honestly, back in the 90's I never thought I'd see Doom so alive and well ! Nobody gave a damn about it back then !

Vitus has always had their faster tunes that offset their standard glacier pace doom. But yeah, _s l o w e r_ is always best...
