A lot of singers voices age or get weaker because they refuse to practice after they've made it. They don't eat right on tour, they don't go get in shape & they smoke all their life. That's the most common reasons for vocal aging.
Redeemer of Souls was a pure geronto metal album at its best and unbelievably boring one. On the contrary Firepower ranks very very high. Probably in the TOP 10 JP's albums
I've noticed that over the years since the reunion, Rob has lost weight and gotten in better shape. It's REALLY reflected well on his vocal performance. That was phenomenal. He hit those highs without struggle or any raspiness, live too.
I can barely describe my happiness when I watch Rob performing this song live (after more than 38 yrs). Imhao Saints in Hell is the best song (along with Beyond the Realms of Death) from Stained Class LP. Amazing vocal performance. 10 points from 10. Btw if you listen carefully to Ian Hills bass line, you immediately know, where Steve Harris got his inspiration for his Wrathchild part from.
My happiness as well my friend, i NEVER thought they would play that song ever in a show....it's my favorite song as well from this GREAT album...PRICELESS
Funny to hear that since it's probably my least liked track in the album (maybe Invader). And they're still great songs, but the rest are even better in my opinion. The cover doesn't count tho! EDIT: Wait no, my least favourite is Savage (didn't even remember about it lol). Out of the 3 I mentioned, Saints In Hell is the best.
@@LoganFK You know Iron Maiden may be more popular and sold more records but JP is imho more important band in the context of music history. JP sharpened this hardrock-metal spear and IM came after them to the finished job. It is like it is
Anthony LoScalzo he’s been working out and also probably been just taking it easier on his voice. Just trying to be a lot healthier and it’s clearly paid off!
I am SHOCKED they've never played this live. I've always loved this song. Almost as shocking perhaps is how great Rob sounds at his age doing it! There are some red leather pants missing from that stage.
I'm really impressed with halford. holy shit. never thought he could do a song like this live, especially at his age. most talented vocalist of all fucking time.
Antoine Sannfilipo - Rob said at the beginning (and it's also written everywhere in the media) that it's the very first time they played "Saints in Hell" live
I can't get over how great Rob sounds here! This is fantastic, I'm in for a real treat on the 23rd! Halford sounding like he did in early 2000 on the Halford tour! Heavy and hard low vocals and strong soaring mid highs!
Who's sayin', before the song started - that should be such a Priest fan....- "Victim of changes"??? HAHAHA!!!...From "Stained Class"...ahahah!!!..and..."never performed on stage before"....HAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Let's not forget that it's those casual fans that make a concert sell out! But I know you feel, it's terrible to hear people talk nonsense about your favorite album... hail from Brazil
One of my fave Priest songs. Stained Class dark and awesome awesome awesome. Great to see it finally given a new lease of life. Halford still bossing the vocals.
Cordell Ivy How is it a computer filter? You can hear him strugling to hang on the higher notes and he even goes off key at times. They add reverb to his mic but that is standard procedure for most singers. Besides that, there is no auto tuning or tinkering with Halford's voice.
Nathan I don't know how they do it, honestly,.but look at all that technology and they sound like they did in 1978......???? I just feel like it's another example of the deception we're bombarded with constantly
Can't believe they actually performed this song live, in 2018 nonetheless! And what a performance! They should keep this song on the setlist, it really suits the heavy mood of current Priest. They should consider adding Stained Class and Savage to the sets too.
Since the early 2000's. He sounded amazing live on the Resurrection and Crucible tours. He began smoking immediately after the Crucible tour and it was very apparent when he rejoined Priest.
Dan Maler He allready smoked on the Resurrection-Tour. I've seen him smoking on a early bootleg from 2000. His voice began to degenerate in the nineties. On the Fight-Tours he had often big problems with the priest tunes and often failed badly on the higher parts. He couldn't pull his chest-voice that high anylonger and had to re-learn singing the high notes only with distorted head-voice. Thats why he sound so different since the reunion.
Man I feel so lucky to had the chance to see them both in 2009 in Milan, Italy, during the “Priest Feast” world tour with Testament and Megadeth. I was 16 and it was my first time ever at a concert. I got the first row and Glenn Tipton took my hand and gave me his pick. Never felt so happy in my entire life. I saw them other 5 or 6 time after that, but K.K. had already left, sadly.
Rob's voice sounds great - this is one song I had thought he couldn't manage now. I never thought I would hear this played live as I did know that they had never done it live before. He sounds fantastic on the new album as well, which I am beginning to think actually tops Redeemer of Souls - in itself a great album considering the triumphs of the past (which are very hard to live up to ) , how long they have been around, and the age of the band members. Really great to hear Saints in Hell revisited - from what I think is probably my favourite Priest studio album.
One of my favorite priest songs! Never understood why they would never do it but better late than never! Great performance. Halford KILLED IT!! At his age especially, unreal im in shock. Just wow!
Rob's voice is beyond amazing. It seems like he has got the pipes back for real. Supernatural!! But it is just SO sad that Glenn and KK are no longer there
It's strange for me not to see KK or Glenn on stage, I think this will be his last tour ... because without the famous double guitars they are no longer Judas Priest ...
Holy hell! Wish I could have been there for that. Stained Class was my first Priest album 1978 and I was a junior in high school. And when I first heard Saints in Hell , my mind was blown. It just got blown again. 🤘🏻👽🤘🏻
I love this song! My only gripe is that this is a song that should have been played live many years ago. This song embodies what Judas Priest is about.
I've always wanted to hear this live as it's one of my favourites. Such a damn cool riff. And Halford sounds in great condition. Surprising considering the challenging range of this song. It's likely that the 'tinniness' on his highs here are due to poor sound recording quality of the video, and he actually sounds like laser precision live. He did a few years back - Surprised me so much.
This song has always been one of Priest's best moments in the studio. They really dropped the ball back in the day and on forth never playing it live. It always seemed like a perfect song to connect with a live audience through. Oh well. Better late than never. \mm/
Rob Halford:I admit the teleprompter drives me crazy. I don’t know if it’s because of getting older or if I can’t handle the mass of information anymore. I have increasing difficulties to remember song lyrics. That’s a severe problem, which is currently [being] medically checked up. I’m bothered myself about being dependent on auxiliary means like a teleprompter, because certainly I’d like to move around freely on the stage - but I’m simply afraid of running from one side of the stage to the other and thereby forgetting a line of the lyrics. That would be a catastrophe!
I seen priest so many times always wished they would have played this one glad to hear it live would have liked to have seen KK and Glen play it but Rib sounds great
Always have been a big fan of Rob Halford & the original Judas Priest since the 70's. Had a lot of hopes & wishes that the original members would Always be around like the Stones.
I literally just listened to the album version before putting this video on. Can't be understated how fucking impressive it is that Rob is able to totally nail this song 40 years later!!!!
