Pleeaaassse hit me with your car, I thought to myself while speed walking in teen temperatures down the crosswalk to my under-the-table criminally underpaid sound job in Brooklyn, so quickly that I was sweating despite the Januaryness of it all. As a lifelong “gifted and talented” student/victim, this should never have been something I should have to deal with. Born out of the disgust of the necessity of working, overworking, wasted educational efforts, and wondering why everyone doesn’t just collectively strike so we can all just be hot and eat fruit instead of worrying about jobs, this is the most bitter thing I’ve ever written but go to college I guess. And these are the essential themes of my upcoming album, Dooda, really. The title comes from One Punch Man’s main character, who is an all powerful indestructible superhero who becomes bored with existing because he faces no challenge. In this song, I’m a snot nosed indestructible wretch exhausted from existing in the world as it is, taunting speeding cars to end it all but knowing not even they can save me.
