The type of attack garozzo does has really started to ruin foil... we were going well for a while with the bias toward the attacker... but to almost completely eliminate attack in prep or the ability to draw an attack is really detrimental to the sport.
I slow motioned this and watched it carefully. Garazzo keep stepping forward, then pauses, therefore giving away his right away. What is garazzo complaining about???
foil has turned in a joke and looks so dum. They need to call attacks into preparation. If you are coming forward and your weapon is not threading the target, but up in the air or somewhere else that is preparation. The fact that they even you the world intent to explain a fencing action makes no sense. Some ref told me, " It is all about intent to attack". Just think about it. one person attacks and hit first, and the other person intends to his and hit second.
I mean what upsets me more than anything else about garozzo's attack is not that his blade isn't moving towards the target... that's not a massive issue, and I'm fine with this continuing to be a thing.
