I got 3 sakai showa from KWB as tosai last year, they are the best fish I currently have, the Beni and sashi quality is amazing and they have certainly grown over the last year. Money well spent
Have both Sakai and Danichi and I would 100% go Sakia if I got the chance. Much more elegant body for me and as mentioned more of a flow to the body and not as pronounced as Danichi IMO
Is there a reason why beni on Sanke fades e.g., water parameters, heat, general hardness, food or is just down to genetics? I bought one tosai Sanke from Saki but this year the beni has started to fade.
I have a question that I am quite curious to know about SFF. I have been purchasing SFF for about 2 years now. The koi have been anything from 16cm to 33cm in length and often Sanke. All of these koi have been bought from dealerships such as Koi Water Barn in the UK. Often these do not come with certification, although some are reasonable size Koi. I was just wondering how SFF certificate their Koi and do they have to meet a certain standard? The reason I ask is because I came across few unreputable UK dealerships that seem to have 'blank' SFF certificates for koi that they claim are from SFF but are often below 10cm in length. I assumed SFF would certificate Koi themselves prior to shipping and not hand out blank certificates as this could damage their name?
Very good question! Sakai sells ten thousands of tosai a year. 90% goes to China. Only the best and best Koi gets a certificate. Those blanc certificates are made by dealers and not by the breeders. They are not worth anything but it’s just because costumers ask for them. So Sakai give those blanc ones with the shipments
