Sakewa is a harvest festival celebrated by the Kirati Khambu Rai community in Nepal. It is usually observed in the month of Baisakh (April/May) and is a time for the community to express their gratitude to the gods and goddesses for a bountiful harvest and to pray for the next year's crops.
During the festival, people clean their homes and decorate them with colorful designs called "mandalas". They also wear traditional clothes and adorn themselves with jewelry and other ornaments. The festival is marked by the singing and dancing of traditional Kirati songs and the playing of various musical instruments.
One of the important aspects of the Sakewa festival is the worship of the god of nature, called "Mundhum". People offer rice, flowers, and other offerings to Mundhum and perform a special dance called "Chandi Nach". They also make offerings to the goddess of wealth, "Sauma Nachne", and the goddess of power, "Hang Nachne".
The Sakewa festival is an important cultural event for the Kirati Khambu Rai community, and it is an opportunity for them to strengthen their social bonds and preserve their cultural heritage.
