We will start our tour at the city’s main gate, Bab Al Shams. It is a large ornate structure that dates back to the 16th century and was built as a symbol of defense and power.
As we venture further into the city, you’ll see one of its most iconic landmarks, the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque. Constructed in 1992, this massive mosque is one of the largest in the world and can accommodate up to 20,000 worshippers.
Next, we’ll head down to The Grand Souq. This oriental bazaar has been a lively shopping center since the 16th century and is filled with a variety of spices, handicrafts, and souvenirs. It’s also a great place to pick up some traditional Omani snacks.
Our tour will now lead us to a more modern section of Salalalal , The Qurum Natural Park. This beautiful park was opened in 2008 and is home to several species of flora and fauna. It also provides a great view of the surrounding cityscape, especially at night.
We will end our tour at the Bait Al Zubair Museum, which got its name from the family that donated the building to the city in 1998. The museum houses a collection of exhibits that range from traditional Omani artifacts to contemporary art. It’s a great way to get a closer look at the culture and history of Salalalal.
