Im really happy about my salamanders in 10th edition. Now if we only could have Vulkan return and get chapter specific units. One day brothers, one day.
When I started 40k I didn't know anything...and picked the Salamanders because green/fire/friendly. Im pretty stocked to play! Just gotta finish my army
I'm just starting now and am thinking the same thing! In my head they are kind of like the Atreides of the 40k universe (minus the emperor part). They are the "Good" guy marines, but really they were created to "seem" like good guys via propaganda. Their purpose is to be known as heroes that save humanity from the darkness of space, to bring people hope that the salamanders might fly in to save them in the most desperate of human trials. But that's propaganda spread to bring hope to mankind. In reality they would kill innocents in a spare heartbeat to preserve that image, and the mirage of hope they burn with.
Mine had a monster mash day, killed deathleaper and a neurolichtor after punching a screamer killer to death. And that was in a 1000 point game with only 3 bladeguard bodyguard
Salamanders are looking pretty good this edition, especially with the new SM units. For a legion that hasnt gotten a whole lot of love in regards to lore and specific units outside of Agatone, 9th and now 10th have really given them some great units to work with. Hopefully assault Termies get dropped and I would love to see special rules for firefrakes eventually.
I took salamanders detachment with my blood angels. Tabled him turn 3, and had a pretty outstanding lead. It's doubtful he could have made a comeback, even if he had most of his army still
I'm a huge fan of doing a 3man BGVets with Adrax & a Lt. instead of the 6man with Adrax. The smaller unit punches down a little worse but punches up nearly the same with lethals and fits in an Impulsor and still take an enhancement. Really misses the assault ramp but for me I need the landraiders for the Gravis threats. Being slow is really painful when your threats are all flamers melta's or fighting.
"Make a person a fire, and they will be warm for a day. Set a person on fire, and they will be warm for the rest of their life." -Chapter Master Tu'Shan
Salamanders are the first army I painted, 9th was pretty tough, so also have Thousands Sons now, when GW announced Salamanders weren't getting their own rules (like DA, DW, BAs etc) my heart sank, but really quite happy with Firestorm and how the two character compliment it, other chapters may be able to use Firestorm but they won't +1 luck stat, really happy I get use Land Raiders as well.
My main concern is the short range weakness, i ran into the problem of my opponent just shoot my flamer guys off the board without the need to charge, not to mention the infernus or aggressors will have 1 turn at most to do dmg before getting wiped out by long range fire while sitting on the obj
Ive had a lot of luck by starting all flamer/meltas off the board to come in as reinforcements. Just start with everything else, or even some eliminators in midfield to spread out my opponents. Its worked pretty well for me so far
@@es83stevenson88 i haven't checked the rules in a bit, but losing the combi weapon took alot of flamers out my army, and I dont wanna buy 30 infernus plus transport for the moment
I've been running Adrax in Company Heroes and a Lt. w/ Sword and Shield. It's been very strong, could also swap the Lt. for an apothecary to make those heroes even harder to get rid of. Vulkan is a monster.
Vulkan is better off leading Company Heroes. If you want a big block of Infernus marines you can, but you're gonna get better mileage out of Vulkan in Company Heroes as just this big defensive profile that sits on an objective and hands out rerolls. Also having Vulkan AND the combi lieutenant isn't worth it, they functionally do the same thing for your army and Vulkan is 30 points more. If you just want the lieutenant for a lone op with infiltrator spend the extra 20 points on a Callidus Assassin, or if you wanted to use the lieutenant as a home objective holder use something else like Inquisitorial Henchmen.
If you have a repulsor or can get one easily, it’s a good alternative for infernus marines in particular. It’s 70 points cheaper than a redeemer and Emergency Embarkation will protect your boys from a charge. Close combat is not where they want to be!
I’m friends w the top salamanders player from 9th and he walked me thru his new list yesterday that’s using some of this and even nastier combos that had me 🤤
Why can’t they have Volcano Fire Drake Riding is a Space Marine with Double Flamers? Or Fanatic Local group that have Throwing Javelins Exploding ends like in “MM Fury Road?” (Witness me, Vulcan!)
How do you feel about 10 Vanvets with hand flamers led by a captain with a thunder hammer and hand flamer in a salamander force? Considering building this and running it in my Dark Angels
Just starting with Warhammer 40K and I'm painting a Salamanders army at the moment. Where can I find the index cards for 10th edition for the Salamanders?
As someone who is about to begin at the Tabletop game, these guys are awesome to me but are they easy to aboard? Was about to play with the Nuns with Guns but understand that they are pricey and hard to play...
How much do you have to build into vulkan to make him worth it I wonder ? Adrax is a beast. Vulkan is good but if you only have 10 infernus or something would it be worth it still ?
Hello i am new to Warhammer 40K, when i tried to check the units in this list on a online Space Marine Index Adrax could not be attacted to Bladeguards. Is the index outdated or is it something else?
Yes they are just normal space marines with a thematic detachment rule, they do have unique characters as mentioned in the video. The only thing making them salamanders are those characters and nice green armour.
and the only chapter that is for colorblind people clearly, there is no green salamanders around the world, so the color scheeme is just wrong, they should be named "Chinise Dragon Skinks", or "European Green Lizzards" or anything else that is actually green ... "green waste disposal bins" LOL
When i saw the Infernus Marines in the Leviathan box I knew the time had come to create a new Salamanders force. I just love the new sculpt and Im going heavy on pyreblasters everywhere
I'm building a list at the moment and I'm going to print a Salamanders themed land raider just for the list! I'm hoping I don't get nerfed before I can finish painting my list!
