Great video, coach! Quick question about static slips: would it be wrong from an orthodox position to turn my leading foot when slipping to the right? why do we only turn the back foot and always leave the leading foot planted? wouldn't it make more sense to turn the leading foot when slipping to the right and leave the back foot planted?
Great question... this is more to do with mathematics than anything. If we agree that whenever we slip it satisfies the condition of placing either shoulder on the forward bearing 0° or 12o'clock... and within the stance position, our left shoulder is at 315° or between 10 & 11o'clock and our right shoulder is at 135° or between 4 & 5o'clock... Then to perform a slip our left shoulder must rotate through 45° and our right shoulder must rotate through 135°. The flexion around the torso and hip can manage 45° comfortably but not necessarily 135°... Therefore, a pivot on the right foot is required for the right shoulder so you can slip to your left but a pivot is not necessary on the left foot to slip to your right. (You can infer this same logic to why you don't require a pivot for the static left hook). The only reason you'll add a pivot is because you want to step to the right while slipping.
Both is thaught and correct. There is a lot of slips for sliping a jab. The one shown here, the front foot pivot as you said, droping the shoulder and a tiny step with the right foot.. i seen a lot of people just bend at the waist also wich gets you off the line but youre feet are not loaded and the balance is worst.
Damn Charles, your subscribes went up big time. I remember last year when I discovered you, thinking it is only a matter of time before the channel blows up. Great video!
Hey Charles i just started going through your videos and i really like them, you explain with much detail and logic. Truly great work putting these together. Thank you for sharing your knowledge on this great sport.
Thanks for the video! This is definitely what I needed after getting lit up in yesterday sparring trying to close the distance like a zombie for four rounds lol
Can we have a ‘Southpaw CharlesSalbox’ channel 👀🫡 I’m loving you way of teaching. My coach Eric Noi admires the Cuban style of boxing and has implemented the style into many National Champions and GB members up in Manchester.
Hey Man, thanks so much For your videos. I definitely learn more from your boxing coaching as you go into the finer intricacies of when and why Thanks again
I enjoy watching your videos, thanks for sharing them. I would like to ask you to share, if possible, some tricky techniques and your experience that are effective for boxing. Thanks again 🥊🥊
@@andyberry828 actually I had a Cuban coach and studied a lot of the Soviet techniques that were brought into Cuba from the USSR during the cold War era
A solution on pivot on to harder rotate could be to switch leading foot then pivot and switch back, given that you are fast im footwork, right? To buy time for yourself if opponent tries something because they realize whats done one could add slip nd box mov to open HIM up more i think.
@@Charlessalbox Wow you and I are similar I love boxing but I'm a budding Computer Scientist . I only do this with the mind of becoming a trainer that's all. I don't want to turn professional.
