Beautiful footage. I holidayed in Salcombe as a child in the 70s. We towed a small wooden speedboat down from Sheffield every year. We stayed in Sherbourne Cottage on the town side most years and once in a larger house on the beaches side. I have several memories: rushing back to the ferry from the beach and getting cut off and wading through chest-high water with crabs around my feet, crabbing off the pontoon with lots of other children with no parents nearby and no signs warning us of dangers, knocking on the door of a local girl called Ruth every summer to get her to come out and play, my mother nearly doing a wee on an adder behind a boulder during a coastal walk, collecting lots of snails during another walk and waking up to them dotted all over the bedroom walls and ceiling having left them in a bag overnight, going down the stone steps near Sherbourne Cottage to the very rough town-side beach and collected the tiniest crabs to keep as temporary pets in a bucket, buying pebble sweets from the nearby shop, going out to sea in our tiny wooden boat and looking at the deep darkness and wondering what was down there! I've lived in Ibiza for 18yrs and can honestly say that Salcombe has left me with far better memories.
