@@roseyvision Maybe it's the original voice actor....what? I'm complimenting the on-screen actor for properly portraying what the voice actor has created.
is it not strange that Roland choose gordy to be Salems host body and Gordy has Ginger or straberry blond hair and Nick Backy the Voice of Salem has the same colour of hair.
Is this implying that Salem's cat form was a real cat who's basically unconscious while Salem occupies him? Also the intended plan was for Salem to take over a teen's life like quantum leap the whole time? Gordy's not the problem Sabrina, the problem is the entire plan😂 Also I guess this adds another layer to Salem's yes-no parole gag; he really does still want to take over the world 😅
Yes, it’s a smart choice on part of the writers because you don’t feel so sorry for Salem when you realize if he actually was in his witch form, he would constantly try to take over the world. He’s still kind of a villain😂
Everything about him hints he wanted only to topple the mortal world's governments. He often mentioned that while he is petty, he rarely wished to inflict harm on anyone who never tried to hurt him.@@Whimsy3692
I love this episode. Gordie's actor did a flawless job of moving his lips while Nick Bakay spoke, and he did a flawless job with all the facial expressions and everything. 1:38 My favorite part 2:32 Gordie wasn't born when Kennedy was elected. Libby is not too smart for failing to realize that something is suspicious about this.
To clarify: When an actor's voice is replaced like this, they first film him doing the dialogue as himself--- his own voice. Then later on, the voice actor (who records the dubbing dialogue in a studio ... hence the lack of natural sounds around his dialogue) matches the words to the mouth on the screen; he watches the scene as he speaks. Looped/dubbed dialogue is recorded after video of the episode is shot and in the can, and then that audio replaces the on-screen actor's real voice. It is not as if Nick was somewhere on set and speaking during the shooting of these scenes, and the actor playing Gordie (Curtis Andersen) was perfectly miming to it. Agreed ... Curtis Andersen was excellent in this episode playing Gordie. Plus, the references like Kennedy are funny because they tell the audience that Salem has been around longer than a teenager has.
@@Zorklis Ha ha, exactly. The dubbing method gives everyone more control ... no mistakes are made on the day the episode is shot (at least for the scenes where Gordie speaks, LOL). If the actor playing Gordie had to lip sync to Salem's dialogue as this was being filmed, there would be plenty of errors and slip-ups by the young actor--- even if he does know all the cat's lines. And since this show was never taped in front of a studio audience (a "magical" show can't be, because of all the technical stuff and because of all the times the actors have to freeze still while something is moved or added on set, and there's the whole _cat puppet team_ stuff to consider too), a lot of stuff can be done in post production.
This show was so good. My favorite as a teen, Sabrina and Buffy. It was so freeing when compare to the others teenagers shows like Dawnsons Creek and OTH...
One of the tie-in books was actually a sequel to this episode, in which Salem actually physically turns into a teenage boy. I kind of wish we got to see that.
They have two episodes of Sabrina's Secret Life where Salem does this too...and they implied he was way worse than we thought. The first time it was just so Maritza had a date and to help Sabs get Harvey. The second time? Oh....Salem had enemies in the villains circle too and he looked like Sabs brother this time instead of retaining the dark hair (because he's more like her sassy brother than her house cat at this point). Talk-Talk wanted revenge to the point he had to beg Sabrina to be a villain just to stay out of trouble...after which Sabrina and Talk-Talk became friends and Sabrina now has his card for "insurance purposes".
@@ChestersonJack 1997. It started as a DVD rental company. Salem would've been able to do a DVD mini marathon, but would have to wait 10 years before Netflix started its streaming service in 2007.
The fact Salem is a old evil warlock trapped inside the cats body the name is actually quite fitting, a reminder that being too overt in witchcraft can have dire consequences (he likes to plot world domination)
The smooth voice and the fact that salem was a black cat, i always pictured him as a handsome black guy if he was ever human. But isnt it great how back in the day it didnt have to be woke or pc or logical to be a good show. I havent seen the new Sabrina, because i was so attached to this show. Plus it seems so much better.
He apparently forgot that he was supposed to be pretending to be a kid that wasn't alive when Kennedy was president... and yet that didn't raise a red flag in Libby's mind. She's not too smart apparently
Well freaking down Salem, (yes) he takes the body of a normal teenage boy, first he agrees to take Valerie to the dance with flowers, then the city, then the state, then the country after that the world with Valerie as his queen. (or empress) I really like the look on Sabrina's face as she turns to Valerie.
I know it's a bit silly to overanalyze this, but I'm curious if the writers just think cats are soulless/mindless or if this implies that a soulless body can function on some sort of autopilot if not killed. Like, if you were to remove the soul from a human body, would it just act like a generic human?
My mother and Anna is going to Boston Massachusetts this summer with Tony and I'm staying home watching Anna's guinea pigs and TV and shows and movies and get ready for bed and quiet day at house the next day ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
It's not the first time a 20-something portrayed a teen on TV, but in this case it was clear she wasn't a teen. I was in high school when this show was new and the age difference was pretty obvious. One of my English teachers fresh out of college only had a couple years on her and could've easily gone to the same high school at the same time back when they were actual teens.
