Your the first person that I've heard that says that! I've said this to my buddies for years, and to this day they think I'm crazy. And it's not just fly leaders. I believe the same is true with spoons! Which is even harder to explain due to the non absorbing spoon material. But....I believe it.
This system works great with hootchies also been doing this since 1985 on the west coast you just have to cut the hole in the hootchie head a little bigger
our hottest fly is the Hulk UV, hands-down. and sunny day or dull day, it doesn't matter, it just catches. now something i have found, is that their leaders have very poor quality-control. never, ever put one on out of the package. i've yet to find one that has a knot tied properly. every one is different, no two knots are the same, and most aren't even fishing knots. but worst, not one of them has been pulled tight. and the leader lengths, in the 24 & 30 inch, they've been spot-on. but the slider fly leaders, oh my. 9 leaders and every one is a different length, from 11" all the way to 19". one might as well just order their trebles(which are superb) and tie your own leaders. oh, and, something i've done, is i'll fish the fly backwards, running the leader through the opposite of normal. i find it gives the tinsel more poofiness and makes it pop/pulse. not positive it produces better, but i catch with it that way, so that's all that matters.
Awesome video! Love every video you make as they are very informative and honest! Keep them up and happy fishing!!!! I have learned so much from your videos I can't wait to get out on the big pond when I get my new boat and setup for it!
I couldn’t figure out why big part of leaders are always new in my box. Seems those couple always getting used and abused. Anyone wants to exchange my brand new leaders to your worn out ones 😂?
Just curious, why not put a swivel at the other end of the leader instead of that half hitch? It would make changing flies easier and never hurts to have an extra swivel in there.. would it hurt the action of the fly?
Also why are all of salmon candies flies blue, green, or some mixture? I like using tried and true colors and methods but I’m always trying new colors and methods, that’s half the fun of fishing
Then why do many top salmon anglers scrub their lures after catching a fish with dish soap? I know when i lose a good flasher and fly combo its hard to find a combo that replace it. So, i cry when i lose or break one.
