Great fish. Wonderful to see those sea lice. Freshly run gives us hope for salmon Future. Toby versus Fly and old story! I suppose its all a matter of the river conditions?
Yes great to see. River conditions and accessibility dictate when I use the spinning rod. I'm not shy about using it if I think it's the only option to fish an area. Thanks again for watching 👍
Thanks William. Nice of you to say. Yes they were cracking fish, hopefully they keep coming into the system for a bit longer. They seem earlier this year by a few weeks in these numbers so fingers crossed.
Well done! Defo a fair few fish in the river just now, was fishing Newtyle yesterday and the boil was stuffed with them. Had a pull early morning but no luck after that even though they were showing constantly. Tight Lines!
I have a few 28 gram tobys..or another make. They usually only get used when I come up to the Tweed in Spring... Id love to try somewhere on the Tay which Ive never fished..Yes Id make sure they were in the bag for your big fine river....(along with the fly rod) Always enjoy your videos..antidote to the hard fishing here on Welsh Dee Lune and Eden. Thanks for watching Simon. You've been watching them from the beginning I'm sure. You should take a day or two in June on Walkmill next year if it's low water. Let me know when your coming and I'll come and give you some pointers. Thanks again 👍
Amazing video, Congrats on the two fish! I’d very much like to fish the Tay, can you recommend a couple of the most productive beats in your experience for spinning September time? Many thanks 😊
Hi, thanks for watching, I would say Walkmill is excellent for spinning. I had four there yesterday spinning. Ballathie is another. Hopefully you get into a few fish 👍
Cast upstream and wind back quick. Very effective on the Tay and permitted. I would check as its not allowed on some smaller rivers as there is a higher chance of foul hooking one.
Hi, not sure what rule your referring to, in Scotland this is a very effective way to fish for salmon and there have never been any rules to say you can't. Thanks for watching 👍
Hi, it certainly does. I have had days where they won't look at a spinner but take the fly. On the Tay especially a spinning rods essential I think on most beats. Even if it's just to get to places you can't wade or doesn't suit the fly. Very effective.
@@scottishoutdoorlife I thought it was !, I had the same problem with mine !, and Stradic and baitrunner in the past !, think I need to service them more !,
