These GTX Salomons did me well. Had 2 pairs which I hiked from the Himalayas to Machu Picchu. The lifespan were about 5 years for both pairs. Where they first showed end of life was where the top of the boot met the footbed.
Returned them under warranty after a walk in the woods - no heavy hiking! - less then 15km on them; lost two of the outer lace-straps. Nice and comfortable yes, but not as durable as my trusty old M90 Army Bata's. Assume a factory defect - ordered a new pair.
Ive had a pair for the last 5 years. Solid boots that will soon need to be replaced. I have heard that the quality of manufacture has decreased somewhat. Anyone else have info on that?
