I usually go for north face shoes. I bought Salomon shoes one time and was very disappointed with how quick they wore out. I went back to north face shoes and my last few pairs haven’t been great. It used to be I would get 3 years or so out of a new pair. Now it is maybe half of that. I like the quick lace system as well. I usually put them on my shoes if the don’t already come with them on. I started using a shoe horn to save the area above the heel of the shoe from getting worn out. Time will tell if it helps
I have bought salomon for 13 years and the last year they have sucked. My treads wore out in a month and half. My shoes use to last a year. I am so sad. Bring back the quality.
Mine last for a year! I use them as my daily work boots! None of mine have ever come apart (4 pairs so far), in my case its just the fore foot tread that goes before anything, yeah i walk/ run fore footed so the heel always stays 95 % there.
Greetings! As a light hiker compared to you, I recently acquired the Teva Low Grandview GTX hiking shoe with a Vibram "Megagrip" outsole. I was wondering what your opinion is of that outsole in terms of durability and traction, for "light" hiking. Thank you!
Hi not really sure about outsole of its durability. I like to get a shoe that is lightweight, comfortable and durable. Everything does wear out after long term use. It just depends on what you like and what works best for you. I stay away from hiking boots because they are heavy you will get tired and your legs will feel it especially on longer hikes.😎
@@CraigVanDusenOutdoorAdventures I appreciate your reply...thank you! And I've had good results in the past from brands such as Oboz, Keen, Merrill, Danner and Teva, to name a few.
7 years ago I bought my first salomon shoes xa pro 3d I wore them for 4 years and they were like brand new untill the day I replaced them with another pair of xa pro 3d. They were not as good as the previous ones but these new x ultras they are the worst. They started to come apart in a month
@@CraigVanDusenOutdoorAdventures tebrik ederim bu kadar sağlam bir ayakkabıyı bu duruma ancak süper güçlere sahip bir doğa yürüyüşçüsü getirebilir👍🇹🇷👋
What a shame Craig.. we purchased outdoor gear recently that wasn’t very good, from a usually dependable company. Are they trying to produce products at a cheaper cost, while charging us more? We all better save our receipts. Sorry again Craig..
I should have saved my receipt longer. All my other receipts are sent to my email. But not this one. I still like salomon shoes. I have noticed that camping gear has gone up in price. Hope the next pair of salomon shoes I buy last longer than three months.😎
The exact issues I have on my last two pairs of xa pro 3d’s. I am not buying another pair of salomons. Even though I like them. They used tobe so much better…
So, a quick ballpark calculation, about 600-750 miles, that’s poor, The amount I do, and it’s roughly the same terrain you claim to do, wouldn’t last one holiday for me…. Personally I go fore Lowa, managed I calculate 1000-1500 miles before the soles wore out, and the rest of the shoe was still in great condition
Sadly I had the same experience with the X-ulra's (more than once) ...in my experience >> stay away from Salomon "boots" ...their Trail-runners though, are fantastic !! so next time you go Salomon ..get a pair of "Crossover" or "Speedcross"
I have worn Salomon sneakers for years. Similar story where in the last 2 years I’ve noticed they wear out in about 6 months where years prior they lasted for years. Not sure what Salomon did recently but I have completely switched brands given the last 3 pairs fell apart on me.
@@CraigVanDusenOutdoorAdventures How many ppl will use boots like you?.. I think several from 1000 of pll who bought it. So its simple math, they will buy new one's avery year, instead once in 2 or 3. More money for Company 😉
I have exactly the same shoes and i can confirm - they SUCK :D. Most unconfortable hiking shoes I have ever had. I owe also the MID version, those are just quite better, but i am using them very rare. For my main expeditions, I switched to SALEWA hiking shoes and boots - i haven´t got any issue so far.
@@CraigVanDusenOutdoorAdventures i heard that they are fine, but they're made more for the trail runners... i don't know what paths do you prefer on your journeys, but for hiking in the rocky areas and mountains, i recomend you something more durable... but overall, Salomon Speedcross are one of the best sellers in the category, no doubt
I just go a pair of them.. the left is not as the right. Has a defect wich I think is natural for a shoe company , what is not natural is that the official store did not respond so I got to keep a defected product with such discomfort that I give Salomon thumbs down. They were not cheap on the pricetag, only cheap on the construction of the product and the careless customer service.
