I love that you didn't just critique everything she did. You pointed out what she did well too and gave tips/critiques in an encouraging and polite way. It's an approach you don't always see with this kind of reaction video and I appreciate it because there's never too much kindness in the world. Great video!

You do a fantastic job with constructive criticism! I have two questions for you regarding fine hair: 1) ) After washing and conditioning in the shower, aren’t we supposed to use a microfiber towel, then a leave in conditioner, and a tiny bit of oil? 2) If you use heat protectant as you go, aren’t you waiting about 30 seconds after you spray it, per section, so it dries down completely before you go in with your iron? Thx!
@BlowoutProfessor
@BlowoutProfessor 2 года назад
Great questions! I would wait until the hair is dry to apply oil. If you blow dry the oil tends to mess up the texture so it's frizzier. For the heat protectant I just brush it through until I can't feel it anymore. If it's still wet after 6-10 brushes then it's too much heat protectant. But yes you're right the heat protectant shouldn't have the hair feeling wet when you put the iron on 👍 (except in super rare situations where the curl won't hold)

Can you do a review of Abbey Yung's wash day routine? She uses quite a few products that I would love to hear your perspective on! She also puts so much emphasis on emulsifying the shampoo before putting it in your hair whereas I've heard you say not to do that because it will react to the oils in your hair? LOVE your content by the way!

After watching your videos on how to properly wash my hair, condition, leave in condition, heat protection, detailing with the right brush, putting oil on my ends and i used the Tymo straightener comb... The final result was amazing!!! It has body! It's straight with no frizz! And it has weight!!! It sways! And the best part.... Literally no shedding... At all!!! Couldn't believe with just one wash! I have Psoriasis so have to use prescription shampoo but use 6 and 7 Olaplex afterwards and use 6 as a de-tangler. I rough dry my hair upside down with a $40 hairdryer, I don't have the skill to blow dry but when I get it blow dried I find it makes my hair too fine and flat. I like the volume and then smooth it with 7 Olaplex and a straightener if I need.

Yes, Chris, love these! question about protectant: the Purology sprays out as a ‘lotion’ not fine mist. You instruct 6-8 sprays, one being entirely on the ends. I spray one pump into my hands and ‘dip’ my ends into my hands, then spray hands with 4-5 pumps of lotion, and distribute. Is this enough to protect my fine color treated lightly highlighted hair? thank you!

I’m going along with my journey to hair master and I have only 1 disagreement ! I have fine hair but I have always had a lot of it! Always thought told it’s thick/coarse and I have gone through some blow dryers over my 45 years of caring about my hair 😂 even had “the SpeedFreak”’I worshiped that girl. It would take about 30-40 minutes to b/d even my stylists would run lol forget about highlighting day! I moved to Babyliss when it passed. My princess reign ended in 2015 thankfully my babyliss was new 😂 and in 2019 I was struggling to live in Jacksonville and my blow dryer was struggling with me, but I have a awesome mom and she gotten a new dyson , I didn’t know they made b/d lol but she sent her 4 year old dyson to me. I would cut some one (jk) if they even tried to take it from me! I have rebuilt damaged hair from the Jacksonville stent and it is partially the dyson! It’s. 5 minutes tops to dry my below shoulders hair and has never caused my hair to get hot. I wonder why you don’t like the dyson ? Maybe it’s the newer ones that have done what you taught me on products, which I have manifested into my decision making on many areas dual, triple and up to good to be true! I have been following you and your advice for about 6-8 weeks and I have 3 inches of grow out from my Christmas highlight! Also, I ordered the pureology l leave in in travel size ❌👸 and I am allergic to it never liked the line but have used it no issues except the leave in. Can you recommend another brand fine/medium hair for me? I was looking at Moroccan and Redken but using mom’s hand me down Biolage all in one. .not noticed any change except my head stopped itching lol. 😮 I apologize for the lengthy dual question post 🙋‍♀️💯🥸

I loved this video! One question though, I think she used heat protectant (Kerastase) before she started blowdrying. Is it important to use the heat protectant another time before starting to use the curling iron or is it enough to apply it once before starting to blowdry and then curl without reapplying?
@BlowoutProfessor
@BlowoutProfessor 2 года назад
Hey! The kerastase is really a blow dry protectant (regardless of what the label says 😂) Blow dryers are around 170 degrees and irons are 375-400 degrees so you need a heat protectant made specifically for that type of heat before you use an iron 👍
@sobean9309
@sobean9309 2 года назад
@@BlowoutProfessor thank you!! My question did not target the Kerastase protectant, I wanted to ask if you generally recommend using a heat protectant twice (1x before blowdring, 1x before iron) or if it's enough to apply real (!) heat protectant once for the whole routine? :)

Chris, What would you suggest for finer hair that is about 2C 3A? A mousse, or anything you would suggest. I noticed naturally curlies aren't show too often ;-)
@evelynparhamreviews
@evelynparhamreviews 2 года назад
I know you asked Chris, but I felt compelled to reply. I have a cosmetology background too. Natural curlies aren't shown too often because I assume he doesn't work with curly hair a lot from what he shows in his videos. He's blowing out, so his goal isn't to enhance natural curls, but more to relax them with thermal styling. Maybe his salon partner does more curlies because I think she might have curly hair from what he typed in a comment reply. Are you using mousse for your wavy-curly hair to set it in its natural state or want to use it for blowouts? I've seen people use mousse on fine hair and then blow it out, mainly so it's not weighed down. Chris has product recommendations on his site for fine hair if you're doing blowouts. I use a cream he recommends (already had it in my stash), but my hair is thicker and extremely curly, so it does better with a blowout cream. I watch Chris because I blow out and straighten my hair. I've learned a lot from him and applied the principles to my textured hair even when I style to enhance my tight curls and texture. I honestly believe his tips are universal and work for any hair type (straight, wavy, curly, textured). Just use products based on your hair characteristics (fine, medium, coarse/dry, normal, oily) and how you want to style your hair, and your hair will thrive.😊 Sorry, for the long reply! 😬

I love the analogy of the first girlfriend and the wrong tools because of not having anything to compare them too. I usually ask a professional about what tool works best. I’m a makeup artist and people ask me for my professional opinion about products and techniques. When I need advice about hair, I ask a hair stylist I trust. I love these videos; they offer opportunities to learn. Thank you!

I found your channel and have been following your advice. It has been a huge change for the good. I have loved the products and hair tips and have been telling everyone about your channel.

YES! YES! YES! This is exactly the kind of video that I've been looking for especially from you because I trust what you say the format was brilliant breaking down what she was doing and commenting on each product was phenomenal the only thing I would have liked would have been if you would have given options for alternative products to use at each step I would absolutely love a video that discussed different types of hair dryers and flat irons all the brands and ranking them from best to worst

I’ve actually used my friends dyson blow dryer with fly away attachment and it was straight and shiny for days. I have the dyson air wrap and I can’t get the same straightness. I was waiting for a recommendation for a blow dryer.

I will never follow "influencers " any more. Since following your advice my hair the best it has ever been. These people get freebies and therefore have an incentive to use everything and everything. In all honesty her hair didn't look great imo. Lots of flyaways, frizz and a missed opportunity for volume, shine and bounce.
