I'd actually enjoy it if the developer could pause these speedruns to fully express their thoughts. So many times in these vids, the devs see bugs that they'd either like to explain or speculate on but don't have the time. It would be fascinating to hear what they have to say and I'm more than willing to watch the vid even if it doubled in length.
@@conaldeugenepeterson2147 I'd be fine with that. They could just publish two versions like Ars Technica does with their extended interviews from War Stories.
Go to the RU-vid channel tomatoanus, he writes a script and explains the runs in detail with scripts that the top runners at the time helped to write. It’s really informative and cool
I've been the admin for the speedrun community leaderboard of this game for years. It's a blast to see the developer have a great time watching a run! This run allows for going out of bounds to skip right to bosses, but we also do runs with no out of bounds skips, as well as runs with no major glitches, for both any% and all bosses.
This guy: *using gravity as he wants to skip through the other side of the world* Meanwhile me: *keep falling at the same spot at Watching Woods and die to gravity*
He's got the right stance on glitches first question is can you do it on accident. If not it doesn't affect anyone that doesn't want to be affected, so leave it alone. If it does than yes it needs patched to prevent ruining the experience for average users.
What time and dedication is needed to teleport around the map and break the spell system so you can finish a long boss fight in seconds. Reading forms and exploiting bugs isn't a real speed run.
@@_Twink you think that guy didn't finish the game before even trying to speed run it and do you think it's easy to pull out most of these glitches it was perfectly done and to memorize it the way he did takes a huge amount of time just stop the hate even the dev himself was astonished for you to oppose it don't think so
@@_Twink It might of been tool assisted too but who cares. Metroid gets tool assisted speed runs and exploits glitches and its like the king of speedrun games. I'm sure it still takes significant dedication, love and knowledge of the game to do this and its pretty interesting to watch impossible things happen
@@joedirt2656 dude said the only mod was to randomize the armor appearance after every boss that has no effect on stats. @Twink this guy not only memorized the entire map, bosses, ladders, and upgrades, but has the timing to flawlessly pull of every movement bug. It’s a bit harder to plan a successful and flawless speed run than reading gamefaqs and Reddit threads. It’s easier to spew your unhappiness into the world than actually work on it.
haha.. games that don't completely glitch out and still run smoothly like this are well designed. they're complex entities. developers shouldn't feel bad about it at all, your game is still running great even though it's being severely abused.
Honestly, it's controversial, but after seeing this I'd patch out wildfire. Some glitches are fine to leave, sure, like the ladder glitch - but every single category will be focused around ignoring the bosses and spamming wildfire, when the way they handle each boss should be the most interesting parts of the speedrun
Coming back to this after doing my own quick replay before the release of sacrifice. Mine took 12 hours 🤣 congratulations on a great game and can't wait to thoroughly explore sacrifice!
It would be cool if you could get the speedrunners into the video at the same time so you could get the two sides and get a bit of back and forth going on.
Too bad the dev recently released an update to patch out all the glitches shown here (except the hat trick). Of course, speedrunners will just choose to not get that update patch, so not too bad. Shame that he actually mentions even here that the glitches will likely not get fixed as they don't take away from casual play...but here we are.
It's so confusing that this isn't a TAS. Didn't the dev say these glitchy jumps required making two inputs in the same frame? Does the speedrunner have a button configured to do two inputs at once?
From a comment by the Dplanet36 in another thread: "It's a mod which randomizes your character after every split, doesn't effect the run but still funny to use"
