I find this distasteful. It makes fun of mormons and of Utah... ....and it doesn't even MENTION that Salt Lake City is a great place to pick up a few extra wives during a visit.
***** ok, but the original mormon religion did indeed teach and practice polygamy. the modern church eventually outlawed it because it is outlawed in the u.s. but that is contrary to the original religion.
***** most don't practice it, but there certainly are polygamists out there. anyway, i consider all religion to be preposterous (the supernatural beliefs) and most contain problematic teachings, so i think all are fodder for humor. the fact that people believe in things that aren't real shouldn't give them some sort of special anti-joke-cracking privilege. in fact their preposterous beliefs should and do elicit humor, and they should really be able to laugh at themselves as well...
***** haha. now i have to make fun of you for being ashamed to be a rational atheist. if you've spent time in utah, you've seen polygamists. anyway, those of us who come from fanatical religious backgrounds ourselves, and see some of the negative consequences of those, may feel a little more motivated to make hella fun of those delusional, and too often (but certainly not always) socially abusive belief systems... they're kinda asking for it with their outrageous & delusional beliefs, their frequent attempts to impose them on others, not to mention war-making in the name of religion, etc.
Zion national park in Utah is the most beautiful place I have ever been. But of course you don't have to go there, or if you do, they've got great food, stunning scenery and decent speed limits for you to trek on out of there anytime.
Perfect video. Now for your video of Phoenix just add: Your visit to Phoenix includes the National Grand Jury Museum and the Sheriff Joe Center for Excellence in Avoiding Federal Subpoenas. And for Albuquerque you can simply say: Visit Albuquerque - An Experience that you can Share with your Therapist.
Victor Zimmermann come on, man, there's gotta be a better joke than that. The whole "hurr hurr, Mormons have lots of wives" thing's been stale for longer than most of us have been alive. There's isn't something more contemporary?
I think it's good that Salt Lake City is reinforcing to people that staying there is not an obligation. Not many people know that. I felt like I barely managed to escape when I went there, so I can attest.
I've done several road trips through Utah. At the time I smoked cigarettes, drank coffee and drank alcohol, all of which is restricted heavily. I learned quickly that a) plan your gas ups at the indian reservations, because they not only sell all three products, the people behind the counter won't give you the hairy eyeball for buying them. B), plan your route to get you out of the state as quickly as possible.
I've lived in Utah for 6 years, and I'm an Atheist. It is beautiful here and so far i haven't been approached by a single missionary. But who knows what tomorrow will bring.
I live in a beautiful vibrant city (Paris, France) and I’d like to know I can leave and go to Salt Lake City now. And come back. Written the 420th day of the Coronavirus Era.
I don't quite follow. Are you making a severly missinformed jab at marijuana addiction, or just some dumb fuck trying to make smoking weed sound like the coolest thing ever?
No, it's just kind of a boring place to live is all. There was absolutely nothing in here that could be used to parody Mormonism. The joke is that they're trying to get tourists to visit by reminding them they don't have to stay because it's not a very exciting city.
Can't be a RU-vid comment section without people talking shit about religion. What does this video even have to do with religion? Can't everyone just shut up about religion on most videos? You KNOW it's going to turn bad, so why do it? There's no point.
What good is water that is salty? Utah is a big fucking toilet and the Salt Lake is the bowl. They may not take kindly to a visitor like me, but at least I'll be free to leave.
All wrong, SLC is one of the safest, cleanliest and pleasant cities in the US. All this prejudice against Mormons or LDS is mere prejudice. Yes, true the political mindset is strange, but Mormons are one of the best neighbors I had.
